Standard Oil of Colorado was chartered in Denver in 1922. It was eventually rechartered under the name Standard Oil Company of Colorado in 1927. Standard Oil of Colorado was simply a scam to cash in on the Standard Oil name, and owned no wells, refineries, or gasoline stations. It was sued in 1931 by the Standard Oil Company of Indiana (which was interested in expanding its marketing influence into the Colorado area) over use of the "Standard Oil" name. By 1934 Standard Oil Company of Indiana won the suit and Standard Oil of Colorado was disbanded.

Suggestions
List new suggestions here, under the date the article was created or expanded (<u>not</u> the date you submit it here), with the newest dates at the top. If there's a suitable image, place it after the suggestion.

Remember:
*Proposed articles should be over 1,500 characters (ignoring infoboxes, categories, references) cite sources (these sources should be properly labelled, that is, not under an "External links" header), and be no more than 5 days old (unless it was under 1,500 characters or marked as a stub, and has been expanded by at least an additional 1,500 characters), and should not be marked as stubs. Articles with good references and cites are preferred to those without.
*Suggested facts should be:
**<u>Interesting</u> to draw in a variety of readers around the world.
**Short and pithy (under about 200 characters).
**Neutral.
**Definite facts, mentioned in the article.
*Suggested pictures should be:
**Suitably freely (PD, GFDL, CC etc) licensed (NOT fair use) as the main page by policy can only have freely licensed pictures.
**Attractive and interesting, even at a very small (100px wide) resolution
**In the article already
**Relevant to the article
*Proposed lists should have two thing to be considered for DYK: (i) be a compilation of entries that are unlikely to have ever been compiled anywhere else (e.g. List of architectural vaults) and (ii) have non stub text that brings out interesting relational facts from the compiled list that may not otherwise be obvious but for the compilation.
*Please check back for comments on your nomination. Your entry may miss out on the front page if you don't respond to reasonable objections.

*:The term significant could be considered kind of problematic IMHO. New Sweden was founded in 1638 and according to the Immigration to the United States article there were 2000 Swedes in the US in 1791, but unfortunately the Swedish emigration to North America article does not cover that period at all.--Carabinieri 19:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

**This article is shorter and less interesting than the author's corresponding averageness, written on February 13. I would suggest swapping it (one could simply switch the words in the nom) for the DYK. Both have free images, though I think they may be hard to understand at the small size. ****That rule is currently being discussed, as most of us have now been choosing articles that are usually 1.5KB or 2KB+ in pure text. Without the infobox and reference section, the article is probably around 1.5KB long. That's too short for DYK.
