Request: Can someone circle crop the figure on the right and make a png version of it? You might be stepping into a copyright issue here. The whole photo may be free, but the image on the decoration by itself may not be. The image seems to have been taken (more or less) from an old photo, the copyright may have expired from that old photo (I don't know), but this somewhat stylized decoration image might be creative enough that it's considered a new copyrighted work. (By the way, here is a much better version of that image.) &ndash;&nbsp;JBarta (talk) 13:55, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

According to this, the image is a "folding screen". It never was, nor never was really meant to be a single seamless image. I think we do a disservice by altering an old work of art in such an important way simply to satisfy our modern "widescreen" notions of how it could and should be. I think the panels of these multi-paneled artworks should remain just that... multi-paneled. (Examples) That said, if someone wants to upload a separate version of the artwork showing it digitally stitched together, that would be fine, as long as such material alterations to the work are clearly noted. &ndash;&nbsp;JBarta (talk) 20:12, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

: As Jbarta commented, I have reverted the original work with paneled as it was, and uploaded the stitched version in a separate file :File:Tokugawa Seiseiroku 001 (Restitched).jpg with the comment Restitched the 3 panels art work as in a single canvas. --<span style="color:green;">Jenith</span> (talk) 08:18, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

:Clarifying your goal would help: as it stands, you're asking to upload a 50+ Mb tiff file (without rotation, cropping, converting to jpg?), which might be problematic even on a nominally fast connection. :::Ugh .. I usually don't bother with such details (99.9% of my uploads are tweaked from the source), i.e., if I were to upload my restoration, I would either do it from scratch, saying that it is a tweaked version from the source (which is a stable link, and others can always take it from there) or upload as derivative of :File:Amorsoloposter.jpg. ::::I'm afraid, sir or madame, that you have missed the point of WP:OWN here which is that there is no such concept as "supervising editors" (either self appointed or otherwise) in WP with the authority to unilaterally dictate and/or impose their own personal views as to style, approach, and/or any particular process followed by any or all others who chose to contribute their efforts to the project. No two contributors are ever going to do anything exactly the same way. (If that were the case, this could be done by robots.) It is therefore not appropriate (and shows a failure to WP:AGF) when any contributor takes it upon him or herself to universally review, second guess, materially alter ( or "redo"), or even "bless" the the work of every other contributor who accepts and completes requests in here. Doing so constitutes the inappropriate application of WP:OWN on the part of any such a self appointed supervising editor, discourages others to continue to offer their own efforts, and is inimicable to both the atmosphere and objectives of the overall project. Centpacrr (talk) 01:09, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
:::::I am well within my my right here as a good Wikipedian to say "Please make this red." I am also within my right to say "Don't make it blue and don't make it yellow, just make it red." As a good contributor, you can then choose to either take the job and make it red, or not. In all fairness, if you really think it should be blue, yellow or whatever and proceed to do it that way, that is of course your prerogative. Just don't be surprised if other editors resist your efforts. And while we're at it, WP:AGF was never intended to be a shield behind which editors may seek protection when criticized for arguably bad behavior. In other words, I realize that you may suggest and even believe you're operating in good faith... but knock it off anyway. &ndash;&nbsp;JBarta (talk) 01:28, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
::::::Expressing differences in opinion is one thing. Taking a position that one is the final reviewing authority on everything that everybody else does is quite another. That is, among other things, WP:OWN.Centpacrr (talk) 01:55, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
:::::::Jesus Christ, talk about I didn't hear that! Can you honestly not see the pattern of behaviour which you indulge in here, Centpacrr? You make some pretty wierd edits at times, or do a 'half-assed job' as JB puts it. Most often this consists of extreme contrast or colour adjustments which were neither requested nor required. When questioned you claim to have put a lot of hard work in, despite evidence to the contrary. You have been pulled up on this on numerous occasions and, sadly, it often ends with you crossing out your own comments, reverting your own edits and taking your proverbial ball and going home. I know that you are capable of much more because I've seen you do some good work, so pull you finger out of your arse and get on with it! Your overly verbose, thesaurus-powered rants are ridiculous, unnecessary and acheive nothing, right? Do they make you feel better? I doubt it. On the second picture the dark brown stripe was lighted up. The larger demages of paint were removed. Crackes of paint were left, it is natural process of aging. PawełMM (talk) 11:41, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
