= Copper access node =
The term "copper access node" (CAN) is used in telecommunication environment. It is a network device to provide xDSL signals on copper telephone lines. It is a synonyme to [[DSLAM]].
Its equivalent for fibre telephone lines is a fibre access node (FAN).<br>
In telecommunication networking "nodes" are devices which aggregate and distribute communication traffic. "Access nodes" are operating on the access layer of the network which means that they are the first collection point from the end customer's view.
