The NYtimes is saying O'Keefe and his son survived and are hospitalized. I think you could allow that status to be added rather than prohibiting edits.

I know we have discussed that we should not officially confirm whether or not he has survived the crash, but should we reflect that uncertainty in the article itself? Perhaps we should include a line to the effect of, "It is presently unclear whether or not O'Keefe survived the crash, with several news sources reporting conflicting stories."?
