== Canadian regions ==
;Article(s):
: [[Structure of the Canadian Army]] and other Canada related articles.
; Request:
: Good Day
: for the aforementioned article I would like to request the creation of relief ___location maps for two of Canada's regions:
:* [[Atlantic Canada]]: there is a map for three of the four provinces of this region ([[:File:Carte topographique des Provinces Maritimes du Canada.svg]]), but it omits [[Newfoundland and Labrador]]
:* [[Western Canada]], which should include [[Northwestern Ontario]] (at least up to the city of [[Thunder Bay]] please).
: additionally I would like to ask if it is possible to turn the map [[:File:Quebec province topographic map-blank.svg]] into a map usable for the ___location map template and if it is possible to create a relief ___location map for the province of [[Ontario]] (I believe that as of now the only relief map of Ontario is: [[:File:Map ont.jpg]])
: I intend to create ___location maps for Canadian Army and Air Force articles similar to these: [[Structure of the Italian Army#Army Geographical Distribution]] or [[Structure of the German Army#Geographic Distribution]].
Thank you and with best regards -- [[User:Noclador|noclador]] ([[User talk:Noclador|talk]]) 09:49, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
:: As it is now, with maps of single province only, the creation of maps with the locations of Canadian Divisions becomes a chaotic mess. I.e. for the [[Structure of the Canadian Army#37 Canadian Brigade Group]] two graphically diverse maps are needed. As Canada is too big to use a map for Canada to show the Canadian Army's ___location separate maps for the four Canadian divisions are needed. == Ability to crop maps so that they fit all of the points without including large empty areas ==
Lately I have been putting maps in articles that show a bunch of different points, and so far the process has been to either upload a new map every time I want to plot a point that doesn't fit on an existing map, or deal with a bunch of points being really close together on a map that exists. Going through the archives here it seems like some other people have had the same problem, and so far, the state of the art is to use {{tl|CSS crop}}. Unfortunately, this template seems to only work with pixel offsets, implying that I'd have to manually go to the map and get its coordinate offsets, and then manually check the coordinates of all the points, etc.
Anyway, it seems like it'd be possible to make something that worked a bit more simply, and just automatically grabbed the coordinates for the original map, as well as the coordinates for your points, and parsed all of this into an automatic zoom level/scaling. I don't know how hard this is going to be, so I won't promise anything, but I will post here if it ever ends up happening. ;Request:Correct the South Sudan–Sudan border.
: The South Sudan–Sudan border in [[File:Pakistan (orthographic_projection).svg]] is slightly different to the South Sudan–Sudan border in other orthographic projections. Can someone change it to be the same as it is in [[:File:India_(orthographic_projection).svg]]? [[User:Swiftestcat|Swiftestcat]] ([[User talk:Swiftestcat|talk]]) 08:11, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
