This page is for requesting that a page or image be protected or unprotected, including page-move protection.
The change in dynasty in China from the Tang to the dynasties that included the Song did not greatly interrupt the trends of Muslims established during the Tang.

Islam continues to increase its influence
If you would like to request a page be protected or unprotected, please list it (and the date) at the top of the current requests section below, with the reason that it needs protecting or unprotecting. Before you do so, however, consult Wikipedia:Protection policy for details on the purpose of protecting pages and the guidelines concerning page protection.
Many Muslims began to go to China to trade during the Tang Dynasty. During the Song Dynasty, Muslims began to have a greater economic impact and influence on the country. During the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Muslims in China dominated foreign trade and the import/export industry to the south and west.

Migration of Muslims to China
Only consider protection as an option that is necessary in order to resolve your problem and that the only solution that will assist in the solution of the problem is protection. Sometimes the problem will go away after a week or so.
In 1070, the Song emperor, Shen-tsung (Shenzong) invited 5,300 Arab men from Bukhara, to settle in China. The emperor used these men in his campaign against the Liao empire in the northeast. Later on these men were settled between the Sung capital of Kaifeng and Yenching (modern day Beijing). The object was to create a buffer zone between the Chinese and the Liao. In 1080, 10,000 Arab men and women migrated to China on horseback and settled in all of the provinces of the north and north-east.

The Arabs from Bukhara were under the leadership of Prince Amir Sayyid "So-fei-er" (his Chinese name). The prince was later given an honorary title. He is reputed of being the "father" of the Muslim community in China. Prior to him Islam was named by the Tang and Song Chinese as Ta-shi fa ("law of Islam"). He renamed it to Hui Hui Jiao ("the Religion of Double return").
After a page has been protected, it is listed on Wikipedia:Protected page with a short description indicating why it was protected. Further discussion should take place on the Talk page of the article. This is not the place to discuss or dispute articles, users, or policies.

Notes
When submitting a request for page unprotection, you may want to consider the reason given for protection at Wikipedia:Protected page (or lack thereof).

User:Shiraj Singh was blocked for 3RR. He is using an anonymous IP address to evade his block and insert POV and off-topic text into article. Editors who oppose this text include User:Zora, User:Taaoo, User:Supersaiyan, User:Tom Radulovich and myself. The user with the IP # 212.205.107.171 keeps changing the page back to an old, ugly and shorter page. I am thus forced to revert it to its correct form at least once every single day .I know that the information contained in the sections he keeps deleting is totally accurate (and in any case he isn't substituting them with something else, but simply deleting them!). Some anon IPs are deleting material and reverting when it's restored. They're also adding material, some of which is okay, but other additions are inappropriate or badly formatted, and they're deleting relevant, properly referenced edits, including images, and violating 3RR if it's one
person. They're stating their case on talk, but won't budge from their position and won't stop reverting. The IP addresses are 87.74.10.201, 147.114.226.175, and 147.114.226.173. The latter resolves to the National Westminster Bank in London. ::SlimVirgin has been imperiously asserting his view over all others for at least a year. He has been told that the image of a monkey on that page is unacceptable, but has ignored all objections. He has reverted factual and structual improvements to the page. He has ignored all points made to him on the talk page already. He has also lied about changes to the page to suit his own ends. For instance, he claims that the page has been reverted more than three times when anyone can see that there have only been three reversions. 87.74.10.201 08:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
:: He likes to revert pages including substantial amounts of new content, while simultaneously deleting new content. For instance, see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Stop_Huntingdon_Animal_Cruelty&diff=27220368&oldid=27176423: various facts about the company have been deleted; firstly, that they (Huntingdon Life Sciences are not simply an animal testing company, but a company that does about half of its testing on non-animals. He deleted content from a court case describing actions against the company that pre-date the campaign group in question. He has made simply no attempt to edit the page to make whatever improvements he thinks have been made. 87.74.10.201 08:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
::He has been told why his reversions are damaging but has answered few or none of the points addressed. He has an overwhelming hang-upwith my internet access and instead of accepting that 'his' pages might need some improvement, he continues to go on and on about my IP addresses; he has already been told that I am one person, just having different IPs outside of my control, but continues to obsess about my IPs on every page. 87.74.10.201 08:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
::He has some pretty bizarre views about animal rights: see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Geni#SlimVirgin. In short I fear that he will continue to assert his views in perpetuity, as I doubt I have the patience to continue to address his deletions and but if anyone wants to intervene, it would be welcome. I would suggest viewing the history and talk pages on Huntingdon Life Sciences, and Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty. I would also suggest looking at a balanced source. A search of news.bbc.co.uk presents lots of positive information about HLS, which SlimVirgin is not keen of having presented, preferring instead to post selected incidents of animal rights propaganda with the effect of pushing his POV. 87.74.10.201 08:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

:::Oh, and he also made four reverts in barely more than 24 hours, waiting just long enough and then getting the page protected. 87.74.12.83 00:20, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Please help. Some anon keeps changing the spelling to a less common version and won't stop. --Hottentot
:I've warned the anon. However, the same goes for you. This is a content dispute, not a case of vandalism. As such, you are not entitled to reverts. ===Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, Reading Terminal Headhouse, List of Philadelphia neighborhoods===
I have been reverting the edits on both articles by Evrik (talk&nbsp;&bull;&nbsp;contribs), who has created an edit war, that only is ment to mislead and misnform users in orger to force a merger between these two artciles. Attempts to explain that their is a diffrence my my self and other useres on the talk page have only been ingnored by him in order to obchive his ultimate goal. It has all been show by his edits to the articles as well as related article that hs show a extremely low knowledge on the subjects even to the point of lying about his intentions of the merger, these lies also extend to the article Reading Terminal Headhouse, in which he reverted a edit that i made to a link the points to the correct page stating that link does not work, in which it did. I will continue to revert the changes that he has made as long as he attempts to misinform and mislrad readers untill such time the the pages are protected, i beivle that the intergearty of information is the most important prinicpal of an Encylopedia. Shall anyone which ot quetion me about this, i do request that you questiopn me directly. And i also request that when, and if protection is placed that protection not be placed upon a edit by Evrik (talk&nbsp;&bull;&nbsp;contribs), as i do not whcih to see an article that while under dicussuion br misleading and misrepresenting the information which is being pruvayed. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 21:31, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
:This is a massive, out of control edit war between only these two editors. I'm going warn each of them and then block for 3RR if there's one more revert. ===Wikipedia:Protection policy===
I'm requesting protection of this page because an administrator who is accused of violating the Protection Policy in a current Arbcom case (User:SlimVirgin) is now trying to alter the clauses of the policy itself that she's accused of violating. She's added her changes back several times over the past few days after I restored the original and myself plus another editor objected on the talk page. I've asked her many times on the talk page not to make the changes until the Arbcom is done, but she's been increasingly belligerent in her talk page responses. I'm asking for a neutral admin to protect this page and/or ask SlimVirgin not to change it until the Arbcom has ruled. Thanks - Rangerdude 02:30, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
:Note that page protection does not endorse any version, and is not used for that. I'm not protecting for now. This doesn't currently look severe enough to warrant protection, but please stop warring anyway. It is not like there's urgency; there's time to let whatever the last edit was sit while it is discussed. Dmcdevit·t 23:12, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Nintendo GameCube
User:Xizer and User:GoldDragon have been reverting each other's edits way over the three edit rule and their discussion is going nowhere. They are argueing over the wording of a passage about the gamecube's success. The page needs to be protected until a group consensus can be found. -- User:Jedi6 October 30, 2005

The passage being referred to calls the console "kiddie," a common, yet untrue assumption. It is strictly POV and does not belong in the article. I removed this section to clean it up, but GoldDragon seems to be enjoying trolling it. Xizer 04:58, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

There has been a long edit war on this page between myself, User:Copperchair, and several other users. Recently, Copperchair has been removing large portions of text from the page against consensus, as well as modifying the page to fit his standards, rather than what the community wants. In light of User:TheCoffee protecting the other pages Copperchair disrupts, I am requesting that this page be protected until we can settle this on the article's discussion page. I feel that somebody is making harmful changes to this article, and is now trying to get it merged with another article, which is an uneeded action and would only serve to make the page worse than it already is. It would also alter clarity and cause confusion.

::I know exactly what's going on. That user (80.225.1.131) has repeatedly vandalised the page (apparently because he or she disagrees with the merge, although deleting large sections of the article won't accomplish anything), and now wishes to lock his or her vandalism into the page. The merge has been proposed to make the articles less confusing but obviously 80.225.1.131 cannot take a mature approach to his or her opinions. Some guy 19:28, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Continuity Irish Republican Army
This article was protected to secure a pro-British and anti-Republican point of view for the article. As Wikipedia articles should be written in the NPOV, this article should be unprotected to enable it to be returned to a true and accurate article about the military body it refers to.

:That unsigned comment above was added in by the vandal who has been targeting pages on Irish topics and rewriting them to push a pro-Continuity IRA slant. (He periodically returns and reverts back to his last POV edit, usually wiping out weeks if not months of other users' edits.) I guess he's pissed off he can't add a bit of propaganda into the CIRA page, and that all his other POV edits are reverted on sight. Poor lamb. (Zeech. Its weird protecting the Provisional IRA from the Continuity IRA! Both are a shower of sectarian murdering thugs. I guess one side though has the cop-on not to turn their Wikipedia page into a propaganda site. The other side seem too dumb to notice. Maybe their pet vandal should be called the Continuity Wikipedia Regular Attacker (CWRA). <span style="background-color: orange"><font ="center" color="#006666"><b>Fear<i>ÉIREANN</i></b>\<font color=blue>(caint)<font color=black> 04:01, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

The accusation of the IRA (also known as the Continuity IRA) being "sectarian murdering thugs" is yet another example of the anti-Republican POV being spread on this page, to fuel a pro-British agenda. Everyone knows that the IRA (and indeed the Republican Movement as a whole) is non-sectarian. The claim that they are "murdering thugs" is also inaccurate - murder is the unlawful premeditated killing of a person or persons: legitimate acts of war by a National Army do not constitute murder or unlawful killing, nor can it be called thuggery.

:The CIRA and the PIRA aren't a "national army". They are self-appointed thugs who rob banks, kill policemen like Garda McCabe, kill widows and bury them in secret graves, rob banks and fund themselves through selling heroin to working class kids. But then (typically) you won't create a user account, and sneak on to wipe out all other edits by all over users to revert to your own POV version, showing the same contempt for rules that your pals in the CIRA regularly show. They kill people. You kill community's edits and then run and hide. Like your sectarian pals. <span style="background-color: orange"><font ="center" color="#006666"><b>Fear<i>ÉIREANN</i></b>\<font color=blue>(caint)<font color=black> 20:02, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

I agree that the Provo party militia is not a National Army. Óglaigh na hÉireann (C.I.R.A.) on the other hand, is. They are not self-appointed - but recognised by Dáil Éireann as the Army of the Republic. Following the transfer of governmental authority of the Irish Republic from the Executive Council of the 2nd Dáil to the Army Council of the I.R.A. to hold in trust, the Army Council continued as the lawful Government of Ireland. As such, the I.R.A. continues as the Army of the Republic, and answerable to the Government of the Republic.
