It could be that the first 5-10 pages tell what he is going to say and that would provide a kind of summary instead. If you have the book, perhaps you could take a look and see if there is anywhere he summarizes or forecasts or offers any kind of an overview? You know how authors often write that "In chapter 6 I will discuss so and so". That would be helpful.
