::Not sure what makes you think this is available on HathiTrust. They have digitized it, yes, but HathiTrust does not usually provide fulltext access to in-copyright works (unless the rightsholder explicitely agreed); Worldcat does not distinguish between fulltext/limited access. —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 19:58, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

::::They can't access full books of all material (been there), hence my question. They can access some of the material if it is considered out-of-print and meets some additional criteria. I infer from your response that you don't know if this book qualifies. Well, I suppose you can wait for someone from a partner institution to check the status of this particular book. It remains doubtful if someone can legally provide you with the entire book, though. There's no real reason why the restriction "We cannot perform full book scans requests due to copyright" wouldn't apply here; the rightsholder didn't make the material available, so the (U.S.) user would have to abide by the requirements of the fair use defense. —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 06:21, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

::::::LeadSongDog, thanks, though I suppose the problem is not so much finding someone with access to a copy of the book as it is scanning the entire volume of 102 pages (Winged Blades of Godric seems to request the entire volume). That would obviously be at odds with the general rule here that "[w]e cannot perform full book scans requests due to copyright". —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 06:00, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
:::::::For most article development, simply scanning the contents and index is half the battle. For Chinese alligator; I primarily would like to know what it says about the alligator's association with the Chinese dragon. Of course, viewing the whole text would be ideal but it's really the Chinese dragon association that I need to know more about to add to the article, as the current section is quite short and only cites one source.

::Vmavanti, as to #3, the volume has no annual index, and the individual issues, too, do not include a detailed table of contents (e.g., they don't mention reviews). Unfortunately, I do not have the time to search the entire volume. Regarding #2, there is a sentence in an untitled, as far as I can see, editorial section in the June issue, page 24, that says: "Teddy Norman's crooning on the icky “One Love" is pure dross, but thrush Chris Adams’ saucy innocence on “I’m a Big Girl Now’ (2 parts) is winning; she and McKinley address a tragic postwar shortage in “Have You Got Any Gum Chum?”". As best as I can tell, no other page 24 of any 1988 issue contains any mention of the song title. I'm not sure what the point of this reference is anyway; the fact that "Have Ya Got Any Gum, Chum?" comes from the phrase "Got Any Gum, Chum?" appears entirely trivial and the less obvious remainder of the sentence is already sourced. —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 15:04, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Proceedings of the International Association of Engineering Geology re the 1556 Shaanxi earthquake.
Does anyone have access to the Proceedings of the 5th International Congress of the International Association of Engineering Geology? It has been cited in various places (including our own 1556 Shaanxi earthquake) for the 1556 Shaanxi (Huaxian) earthquake having 830,000 fatalities, but I began to doubt, and am unable to verify. Item has an ISBN of 90-6191-664-X. It might be available at the IAEG home page, but only to members.

Alternately, is there anyone interested in researching some articles in Chinese? &diams;&nbsp;J.&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;(JJ) (talk) 00:40, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

: For anyone else working on this request, I think it might be in the 6th conference proceedings, not the 5th. The reference in 1556 Shaanxi earthquake cites the proceedings from 1990, which would be the 6th conference. The 5th was in 1986. I checked the table of contents for all three volumes of the 5th just in case, and I couldn't find anything about Shaanxi. Unfortunately, these are the only proceedings I have access to. ::I have a source that states the 5th congress, volume 4, with 1990 when the Proceedings were published of the Congress held October 1986 in Buenos Aires. Also, ISBN 90-6191-664-X may be invalid; see also ISBN 978-906191664-2. &diams;&nbsp;J.&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;(JJ) (talk) 22:16, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

:Vmavanti, regarding #3, I checked the tables of contents of all 1985 issues (bound in two volumes, ~ 15cm thick) and could not find anything. There were non-descriptive titles, which I did not have time to investigate further, the whole endeavour already took 10-15 minutes. On a more general note, I do not intend to act on similar requests going forward; the cost-benefit ratio just doesn't seem right. Not to criticise you--I understand you can only work from what is provided in the articles--just a bit of general feedback on this type of requests. Best, —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 19:14, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

:: OK, then I apologize. I guess I'm not clear enough on how this process works. Thank you to everyone who has helped. If there's a thorny problem with an article, trying to find something like a citation without a title, one that is especially obscure or in a foreign language, to whom can I request help?<br />Vmavanti (talk) 19:42, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

:::Vmavanti, well, there's nothing to apologise for, really, and I also believe this is the proper page for such requests. I'm just pointing out some practical difficulties with them. You can't really know that before you hold the volume in your hands. Sometimes there is an annual table of contents (the likelier the more journal-esque the periodical), which helps locate articles where you only know the author. Sometimes there are few issues and the issues have tables of contents that are very clear, which may also enable one to retrieve the article rather quickly. I'm just saying that there are also instances where that is not the case, and I think it makes sense in these cases to indicate that it's too difficult instead of either leaving the request here untouched (so someone else will have the same experience) or spending an extraordinary amount of time on it. Just my two cents. —&nbsp;Pajz (talk) 22:22, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
::::Vmavanti, according to this Down Beat index, the first one may be "Concert Review: Intercollegiate Jazz Review: Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT". :::::: As an aside, in case you have to deal with this again, it's likely that many music articles simply bear the titles of the album or person they are discussing. So if a person asks, "What's the title of that review of Kind of Blue? it will sometimes simply be "Kind of Blue". Or "Miles Davis: Kind of Blue".<br />Vmavanti (talk) 18:34, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello. I'm looking for Chapter VII: James Wharton "The Moroccan Prince" from the following book:

However, I am also looking for pages 107 and 112 from:

For Chinese alligator. Could someone kindly see if the book supports the claims and ? If it does support the claims, what page number(s) is the information located on so that it can be added to the article for verifiability? ==The Voice/Florida Catholic (newsletter of the Catholic diocese of Miami): Primum Regnum Dei recipient lists==
done
Hi, I'm trying to determine whether Jim Towey, a Florida politician, was a recipient of the Catholic archdiocese of Miami's Primum Regnum Dei award, granted in honour of the late Archbishop Coleman Carroll. (According to various non-reliable sources, he received the 'Archbishop John Carroll' award or the 'Regnum Dei' award from the archdiocese, neither of which appears to have ever been given to anyone else.)

The diocesan newsletter (called The Voice prior to 1990, the Florida Catholic afterwards) seems to have published yearly lists of the recipients of both the PRD and the Papal Cross. I'm looking for any archived copies of the newsletter from between 1991 and 2003; so far, I've only been able to find ones published before 1991 or after 2009.

:Gabriel Yuji #1 and #2 i can't help with due to my local library Proquest access. A note about #1 is that it's a disseration so I don't think you would need all of it. == Excerpt from Elementary Seismology of Richter's "Modified Mercalli scale of 1956" ==
resolved
Also for Modified Mercalli intensity scale: I would like to get a copy of Conrad Richter's "Modified Mercalli scale of 1956", published in his 1958 text book Elementary Seismology. I know of a copy I could copy, but not for several weeks, so factor that in for how much trouble/time to spend on this. A link to a pdf of the text would be nice, and I thought I had one once, but can't find it now. Or even (but less likely) a pdf of just the scale itself. Note: this is not any "Modified Mercalli" scales such as done by Wood & Newmann (1931), Stover & Coffman (1993), or others; just Richter's 1956 scale, which I believe has not been published outside of the text.

Even if nothing can be found I would be interested in seeing what places have been searched. Thanks. &diams;&nbsp;J.&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;(JJ) (talk) 23:58, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
