Hungarian-American scholar [[Linda Dégh]] noted that their tales, while referring to a serpent husband, contain the "hostility of the husband's fairy family" and the ''Magic Flight'' episode (Dégh, Linda. Narratives in Society. A Performer-Centered Study of Narration. Folklore Fellows Vol. 255. Helsinki: Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia, 1995. pp. 143, 146).
