Welcome to the user page design guide. In this multi-page guide, you will find advice on how to develop your user page, and resources that you can copy and paste to make it easier.
Eventually, active Wikipedians turn their attention to their user pages. Creating a nice user page can be a daunting and time consuming task. One can spend countless hours searching the User and Wikipedia namespaces for ideas on what to include and design features to add, and even longer trying to figure out how to put them all together. Many resources and examples have been gathered and presented here to save users time which they can in turn apply to improving the encyclopedia. Simply cut and paste the wikicode of the design elements you wish to use on your userpage; and then modify them if you like, to create your own personal style. Browse the User Page Hall of Fame as examples of what others have done with their pages.

Eventually, many Wikipedians turn their attention to their user pages. A nice user page can create a stronger tie between a user and the community, but it can be a daunting and time consuming task. One can spend countless hours searching the User and Wikipedia namespaces for ideas on what to include and design features to add, and even longer trying to figure out how to put them all together.
User pages
Many resources and examples have been gathered and presented here to save users time which they can in turn apply to improving the encyclopedia:
User pages serve several special purposes on Wikipedia. First, they are tools which provide areas for personal sandboxes, workshops, and page storage, to experiment and build pages before placing them in article namespace, and to store tools and pages the user finds particularly useful. User pages are perfect for building and storing reading lists, Wikipedia bookmarks, and navigation bars, to assist your Wikipedia-based research, study, and navigation. Your user page also provides a place to express yourself, and any practice you get designing your user page may be applicable as skills upon making the encyclopedia itself better. Each user page has a discussion page, which makes it easy to communicate with each editor directly; Wikipedia even notifies you when you receive a new message. User pages also provide a place for programs or projects not suitable for other namespaces. A Wikipedian's user page can tell us a lot about him or her; their record of contributions to Wikipedia, their wikiphilosophy, their strengths and interests, etc; and gives us a place to put userboxes! The userbox system, which is integrated into Wikipedia's category system, automatically enters the user who uses one into the category that userbox represents, and serves as a directory of Wikipedians for finding users who have an appropriate skill or knowledge-level that you need applied when you yourself do not have it. Programmers, for instance are listed by skill-level. See :Category:Wikipedians.

: From various pages of this guide (see the menu bar at the top of this page), you can simply cut and paste the wikicode of the design elements you wish to use on your userpage; and then modify them if you like, to create your own personal style.

ABSTRACT:

If you are new to Wikipedia, you might consider using the standard article format for your userpage initially. That should suffice while you're learning the ropes.

: If you don't have a user page yet and don't know how to create a page, then click on your user name at the top of the screen and follow the instructions (if the page already exists, your username will be blue instead of red).
Today, we are living in an era of open economy. This means better quality of products at minimal prices. Computation for business profitability has been changed from “Selling Price = Cost + Profit” approach to “Profit = Selling Price - Cost”. While competing with multinationals, most of us are loosing our market share because of our costs as well as quality. In this world of “Survival of the Fittest”, we must minimize our production cost to generate profit. Accordingly, Management’s view towards Plant Engineering & Production Personnel has changed from “To Maintain Machines & Carry out Production” to “Must Maintain Machines & Carry out Production at Minimal or in some cases at targeted cost where bottom line is too narrow.

: If you don't have a user account, then click on "log in" at the top of the page, and then click on "Create an account" and fill in the boxes. Write your password down somewhere in case you forget it, and whatever you do, don't forget where you put your password!
In such scenario with ever growing electricity tariff & fuel prices; Option of minimizing energy cost offers Plant Engineering & Production Personnel a good opportunity to enhance business profitability; which is the purpose of this gathering too. To improve energy efficiency strategically, for best possible results, it is necessary to

You could design your userpage as your:

Personal profile page
To achieve these in an organized manner, knowledge based Expert Systems: See-UtiSave (for electrical energy conservation) & See-ThermiSave (for thermal energy conservation) have been developed by experts already working in the field of energy conservation, carrying out Energy Audits and implementing energy saving measures. In the earlier installations, these tools have resulted into minimizing specific energy consumption on a regular basis. They identify & quantify energy wastage and facilitate selection & implementation of energy saving measures in thermal & electrical systems.
Major part of Energy is consumed by manufacturing and processing equipments. It has become very necessary to evaluate the performance of these equipments and then take decisions to implement the Energy Conservation options. Many opportunities are available but the techno-economic feasibility of the options should be worked out so that the industry opts for the best energy conservation measure and also avoids unnecessary higher investments.

An autobiographical user page presents you to the community, and could include your views, your objectives, and your contributions, among just about anything else about you. When just starting out, the standard article format is the easiest way to present information on yourself.
NEED FOR A TOOL PROVIDING CONTINUOUS EVALUATION FOR ENERGY COST MINIMIZATION:

Personal Main page
Over the years, it has been experienced that though one time energy audit assignment and implementing the identified energy saving measures result in to minimizing energy consumption, but it is not sufficient for continuous improvement in energy efficiency. Energy conservation measures should be monitored regularly and compared with the initial energy consumption levels; which helps and supports further Energy conservation efforts.

With a link at the top of every page, your userpage is a convenient place to put what you frequently access. You could include content via template, such as signpost-subscription totd and potd. Or you could design it to be your customizable Wikipedia navigation hub. Or both.
Sustained Energy conservation efforts are necessary to enable energy consumption levels to remain consistent with technological developments and industry norms. All the parameters of energy usage should be evaluated from time to time. Hence, plant personnel need to ensure and ascertain energy efficient working of the plant at equipment, section, plant and premises level.

Workshop
With this approach only energy bills can be brought down on a continual basis by using various techniques for energy conservation, applying energy efficient equipments and by adopting latest trends in technology.

A space to organize your tasks and projects. It could contain wish lists, links to works-in-progress, your to-do list, and so on.
To fulfill this dire requirement of KNOWLEDGE BASED TOOL TO ENSURE ENERGY COST MINIMIZATION, expert systems: See-ThermiSave & See-UtiSave are quite suitable. Also, to cater to day to day requirements of end user & business enterprises in energy conservation & plant safety improvement a Business to Business (B2B) & Business to Customer (B2C) site (www.letsconserve.org) has been launched.

Be creative, and...
Express yourself
Nothing tells more about who you are than a work of art that you create. Make your user page that work of art! If you get stuck, borrow. There's no penalty for "stealing" an idea from someone else, just be sure to change it around and make it yours or give them credit for the idea. Examples: User:ElAmericano, User:The prophet wizard of the crayon cake
Steam / Thermic Fluid Distribution In The Plant

Don't be shy. The meat of most userpages is the bio of the person behind it. Other editors wish to get to know you. Why disappoint them? Many great userpages have detailed bios. Examples: User:Antandrus and User:Binksternet.
1. Format for listing bare and insulated pipes
2. Saving calculation due to insulation of bare pipes and flanges
3. Calculation of fixed steam load: This loss will take place irrespective of production
4. Steam trap selection guide
5. Condensate Recycling: Improving condensate recovery reduces steam cost
6. Flash Steam Estimation: Condensate of higher pressure can result into generation of significant quantity of steam at lower pressure

Who are you? Where do you live? What are your hobbies? What is your area of expertise? What kind of work do you do here at Wikipedia? Especially that last one. What are your hopes and aspirations for this encyclopedia? What is your vision of what it can become? Example: User:CatherineMunro.
Driers

Sharing your dreams may make them come true.
1. Recording of Driers Specification (Steam/Fuel fired, Batch/Continuous)
2. Determination of efficiency of driers: Direct and Indirect Efficiency Test (Also computes %Radiation loss, % Loss due to Moisture %Dry gas loss, %Wet gas loss, Avg. fuel consumption; Documents ID & FD fan power consumption
3. Energy Conservation Opportunities around Drier: Moisture Reduction in Feed, Reduction of Batch Time, Exhaust air reduction, etc.

Another example of Wikimagic.
Distillation Column

Experiment and don't be afraid to ask for help
1. Recording of Re-boiler, Condenser & Column details and Reflux justification (Internal / External)
2. Measurement of Column Efficiency: This also gives Surface Heat Loss
3. Minimum Energy Requirement for carrying out distillation: Compare with actual to improve Productivity and Energy Conservation by Feed Preheating, Reduction of Internal Reflux

You're highly encouraged to experiment with markup; in the same line as being creative, it also gives you some valuable experience with HTML. After all, what's a userpage if you can't understand the code on it? And don't be afraid to ask for help if you get stuck.
Evaporators

Consider a theme
1. Recording of Evaporator details; Determination of evaporation efficiency
2. Concept of multiple effect evaporation; Salting-out evaporators
3. Energy Conservation through Thermo compression and mechanical vapor compression

Many of the best userpages present a theme. It can be an artistic theme in the layout, or a conceptual theme in the content presentation. If you would like your page to stand out, then avoid making it a loosely tied assortment of random boxes and tidbits of information.
Reactors

Mix up your colors
1. Recording of Reactor details
2. Performance Evaluation by Direct Test

Stylistically, colors can really affect a page's appeal. They can accent a theme. They can set a mood. They can imply your nature. Are you always smiling? Then bright colors could help you present yourself as a happy person to the entire world. Smooth, splashy, serene, or serious – they can all be attained via colors. For color codes, see Web colors. For how to apply them to page elements, see User:The_prophet_wizard_of_the_crayon_cake.
Thermic Fluid Heaters

Use images to get your point across
1. Recording of Thermic Fluid Heater Specification
2. Performance Evaluation by Direct Test

Some of the most striking user pages present a radical combination of images to impact the viewer. What better way to get one's point across? They don't say "a picture is worth a thousands words" for nothing. And while words can familiarize someone with the inner you, images can provide an actual glimpse for them into your world. See How to place an image and Wikipedia:Picture tutorial. Or find a picture in a Wikipedia article, and copy its wikicode from the edit window.
Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECO) Implementation

But, before you use images, be sure to see Wikipedia:Image dos and don'ts.
1. Tankfarm Management
2. Boilers; Steam Traps; Condensate Handling and Furnaces

Images are also a major component of the encyclopedia, and are another way for contributors to shine. Your user page is the perfect place to showcase your visual contributions, sprinkled throughout the page, or presented as a gallery.
Concluding Remarks for See-ThermiSave:

Many more free pictures can be found at Wikimedia Commons.
Continuous energy monitoring in the plant is needed to achieve high savings in energy bill and to increase the profit margin. See-ThermiSave helps the industry to maintain standard energy consumption norms in any kind of process and also trains the plant personnel to implement energy Conservation measures and techniques. It helps to keep a check on the operational efficiency of the equipments at any time and control the losses. Thus it makes a complete energy audit of a plant in less time and great accuracy. Two case studies: one for Oil Fired Boiler Efficiency Calculations (performance evaluation) & Savings due to Excess Air Minimization and the other for savings by Insulating Bare Pipes With Calculation For Fixed Steam Loss are attached.

Bigger is not necessarily better
Some users keep it short and sweet. The less you say, the more weight each word carries. In a minimalist design, a user might just state the one or a handful of things they wish to emphasize. Or simply provide links to elsewhere, relying on subpages to elaborate—this may make a crisp and clean first impression. One such design is the "hub" style userpage: like the one by AxG. (The User page design guide's main page utilizes a hub design). Another is the central image style, showcasing a single picture, accompanied by tabs or a menu for further navigation, like used by Trevor_MacInnis. Generally, "minimalist" would be a page that requires no scrolling.
