Dear computer programming portal,
Line 11 ⟶ 23:
:::Codename Lisa But the second one is more accurate. Note that in a Terminal a new line always comes below the previous one. --RezonansowyakaRezy <small>(talk | contribs)</small> 00:29, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
::::Since when is a terminal green and has non-scrolling index numbers? —Codename Lisa (talk) 00:35, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
:::::Codename Lisa Well, it contains line numbering when it runs Vim, which is used very often by the computer programmers. And most of Terminal emulators support colors (see ). So everything here is OK. --RezonansowyakaRezy <small>(talk | contribs)</small> 12:50, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
::::::I see. —Codename Lisa (talk) 08:55, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
::::::Since the line numbers aren't moving with the lines, neither really make sense to me. In that case it comes down to aesthetics which are entirely subjective. I personally, see the logic in the argument in favour of scrolling down, but am not sure which I prefer visually. <b style='font:1rem Arial;color:#066;text-decoration:inherit;'>f<i style='font-size:.7em;color:#0bb;'>red</i>g<i style='font-size:.7em;color:#0bb;'>andt</i></b> 17:14, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
:::::::Fred Gandt They're very similar, but the second one has more logic in its appearance. They're so identical, that most of readers won't notice any significant change. --RezonansowyakaRezy <small>(talk | contribs)</small> 18:32, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
OK, so we have two support comments from 88.217.165.166 and me, and one neutral from Fred Gandt. Codename Lisa could you have your say on it, as I provided some arguments? I'd like to have a consensus on it (although this is not a big deal). --RezonansowyakaRezy <small>(talk | contribs)</small> 18:49, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
:If there's no clear opposition in the next two days (and nobody else does it first), I think it's trivial enough, so will switch them over. ::This is exactly why I listed it for renaming and did not just move to renaming it via less controversial means. 50.53.15.59 (talk) 12:57, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
*Oppose we should just build a new portal for SoftDev, and SoftEng is definitely a different topic altogether, and should not be renamed to that. Computer programming is just coding, SoftDev means addressing what is the focus of a project, why are you making such an application, what are the human-interface concerns. SoftEng is a process, including documentation, and ISO-9001 stuff; also Computer Science needs a separate portal from these three topics. -- 70.24.249.39 (talk) 06:01, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Animated logo/icon
Why is the icon (currently ) animated? No other portals have animated icons. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.90.243.186 (talk) 04:51, 19 April 2017 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Wikipedia:WikiProject Portals is back!
The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018.
Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, and design the portals of the future.
As of April 29th, membership is at 56 editors, and growing.
There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for each component of portals.
Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.
And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.
