The '''booted racket-tails''' are a small group of [[hummingbird]]s in the genus '''''Ocreatus''''' that was long considered to have only one species, ''O. underwoodii''. They are native to [[cloud forest]]s edges in the South American [[Andes]] and [[Maritime Andes]]. They are relatively small, mostly(even greencompared to most other hummingbirds) and primarily iridescent green with white or rufous-buff leg-puffs ("boots"). andThe leg-puffs are more conspicuous in males', which also have twoa pair of dark longbluish [[Racket (sports equipment)|racket]]-shaped extensions to the tail.<ref name=Schuchmann2016/>

The genus ''Ocreatus'' was first recognizeddescribed by [[John Gould]] in 1846. ResearchDuring bythe Karl-L.19th Schuchmanncentury, publishedseveral inpopulations 2016,were howeverdescribed as different species, foundbut notablesince differencesthe betweenmid-20th somecentury populationsauthorities traditionallygenerally assignedonly torecognized a single widespread species, ''O. underwoodii'', with and recommended that threeseveral [[allopatricsubspecies]].
