The first opera house in Dnipropetrovsk was opened in 1931 as the Dnipropetrovsk Workers' Opera House. In 1934{{ndash}}1937, Arsenko Arsen Dionysovych performed there. With the beginning of the [[World War II|Second World War]], the company was evacuated to Krasnoyarsk, where the Dnieper Opera was merged with the Odessa troupe.
