Petro Varivoda was the conductor at the opera house from 1974 to 1994. Among the outstanding soloists who have performed there are the bass Yuri Sabin-Gus, mezzo-soprano Nonna Surzhina, tenor Alexander Vostryakov, baritone Mykola Poludenny.
