== PassingWinning parameterspercentage viafour template callsdigits ==
Can an option be done for goal percentage with 4 digits, for example like the win percentage with notratio setting?

I need help if there is another notratio code for goal percentage please, anyone who can help me?
Would it be possible to write the code to allow for parameter values to be passed via template call? I'm specifically thinking of {{para|only_pld_pts}}, which is presently coded so that a truncated table is displayed if called (even if no value is assigned). If you look at the [[2015 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification#Group stage 3|UEFA Group Stage tables]] on the 2015 WWC qual article you can see that the tables are truncated to fit better in the article, but the tables are full size on the [[2015 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification (UEFA)#Group stage|main UEFA]] article and on each of the group articles. Could the coding for {{para|only_pld_pts}} be changed to require a specific '''yes''' or '''true''' value to activate? If that can be done, would passing the value via the template call be possible, e.g. set {{para|only_pld_pts|{{{trunc}}}}} in the module and call <code><nowiki>{{2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group A table|trunc=true}}</nowiki></code>? -- [[User:Jkudlick|Jkudlick]] ([[User talk:Jkudlick|talk]]) 12:38, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
:{{ping|Jkudlick}}This would be possible, do you want me to implement it for the group A to see whether my idea works? I think having values yes, y, true, t and 1 (independent of case) would catch all options, or should there be more options? <span style="border:1px solid maroon; padding:0 2px">[[User:CRwikiCA|<span style="font-family:'Courier';color:maroon">CRwikiCA</span>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:CRwikiCA|<i style="color:navy">talk</i>]]</span> 15:21, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
::{{ping|CRwikiCA}}Those options should be enough. If you want to test it on Group A, I have no problem with that. -- [[User:Jkudlick|Jkudlick]] ([[User talk:Jkudlick|talk]]) 15:37, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
{{ping|Jkudlick}} Done:
{{2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group A table}}
{{2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group A table|only_pld_pts=yes}}
I kept the same parameter name to keep it easier to follow if people end up reading the Lua code. <span style="border:1px solid maroon; padding:0 2px">[[User:CRwikiCA|<span style="font-family:'Courier';color:maroon">CRwikiCA</span>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:CRwikiCA|<i style="color:navy">talk</i>]]</span> 17:29, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

As this module is called "Sports table", are you going to prepare it for other sports (e.g., deleting the draws column for basketball, different point criteria at rugby union or volleyball, etc)? :{{ping|Asturkian}} That is the idea, when it has been rolled out to the football project and everything is working well (no errors) the plan is to spread the module to other sports as well. For example the table is currently called with {{para|style|football}} but also {{para|style|WL OT}} works (mainly as test) which is for tables without draw and has overtime wins (OTW) and overtime loss (OTL) instead (those names can be changed to i.e. shootout). The columns are decided in submodules (for example [[Module:Sports table/football]] or [[Module:Sports table/WL OT]]). I can give you example of thos kind of table.

Also, all league tables that use this method do not boldface the winning percentage column (see [https://www.nba.com/standings NBA.com], [https://www.espn.com/nba/standings ESPN], [https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/standings/ Y!Sports], [https://www.cbssports.com/nba/standings/ CBS], etc., unlike assoc. football tables that boldface the "Pts." columns. :win percentage or winning percentage looks like it's a bit of a UK/US thing, win is more common in the UK than winning. Regarding bolding, just because those sources don't bold the column is not necessarily a reason for WP not to, you could call it WP's house style. That said, almost anything is possible and looking at the code for WDL it doesn't look the most difficult change to put a bold/normal font weight flag in, although for backwards compatibility with all the existing tables there would have to be an acceptance that bold is the default. [[User:Nthep|Nthep]] ([[User talk:Nthep|talk]]) 20:26, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
So as you see there are already ways to make new tables and there is plan to expand, just taking it one step at the time and start at football to see if any issues comes up. <i style="font-family:Verdana">[[User:Qed237|<b style="color:blue">QED</b><b style="color:red">237</b>]]&#160;[[User talk:Qed237|<b style="color:green">(talk)</b>]]</i> 13:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
::FWIW, re: [[WP:ENGVAR]], "winning percentage" is used in sports such as basketball, and in league tables that this is used, it's a safe bet none of those are from the UK. Re [[MOS:BOLD]], we do have a house style, and it seems that this is not one of the cases... at least I can [[WP:IAR]] association football usage since it is near universal. The league table not having boldface for teams using winning percentage, it's all near universal. ::::::@[[User:Howard the Duck|Howard the Duck]] can you give me some example tables to look at. I picked up {{tl|2011 PBA Governors' Cup standings}} as something you'd edited but I could do with a wider range to play around with. I've identified which lines affect the bolding and I've hard changed it in the module sandbox. My sandbox page [[User:Nthep/sandbox2]] shows the results as well as a UK table which used both percentage points and competition points. If this is what you're looking for then next step is to make it a variable. [[User:Nthep|Nthep]] ([[User talk:Nthep|talk]]) 17:57, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::::That's more or less how it looks like; see for example [[2020–21 NBA G League season#Regular season]]. Winning percentage is used primarily on [[Module:Sports table/WL]] (not WDL) for basketball and baseball. In these sports, the "Pld" column is denoted as "GP" (or games played). Another sport that uses winning percentage but has draws (or tied games) is American football, but North American based leagues do not use this module except for that one instance in the [[NBA G League]] during covid. [[User:Howard the Duck|Howard the Duck]] ([[User talk:Howard the Duck|talk]]) 21:47, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::::To think about it, this can also be applied to WDL as both baseball and American football have tied games and use winning percentages, it's just that the value of tied games have changed through time in some leagues. Also, the ties column is after losses, or WLT, not WDL. [[User:Howard the Duck|Howard the Duck]] ([[User talk:Howard the Duck|talk]]) 21:54, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

::{{ping|Asturkian}} When I have some time, I plan to generalize the documentation to make it easier for people to create sport specific versions. The module is created with sub-modules, so it should be relatively easy to change the columns (and their headings) for specific sports while keeping all the advanced options that are created by the core of the module. I don't think I have time for that until mid January, that should also lead to enough time to iron out the last issues that will come up from implementing the module in various football articles. One more major issues is to generally be able to switch between goals for/against/diff to points for/against/diff to reduce the need for a multitude of style modules that are almost identical. <span style="border:1px solid maroon; padding:0 2px">[[User:CRwikiCA|<span style="font-family:'Courier';color:maroon">CRwikiCA</span>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:CRwikiCA|<i style="color:navy">talk</i>]]</span> 17:14, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

{{edit template-protected|Module:Sports table|answered=yes}}
I made in a sandbox a first try of the module for basketball (and sports without ties) purposes here: [[Module:Sports table/WL/sandbox]] and its results are at the moment in [[User:Asturkian/sandbox#Try|my sandbox]]. The only problem I have is I can't convert GF and GA into PF and PA (and maybe it would be better to show points by default). For this table I established by default 2 points per win and one point per less, like it is written in FIBA rules. If you don't agree with it, please delete it. [[User:Asturkian|Asturkian]] ([[User talk:Asturkian|talk]]) 15:19, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Could {{tl|sticky-header}} be implemented in the module so that column headers stick to the top of the screen as the table's data is scrolled. This would be highly recommended, especially for long tables like [[2024–25_UEFA_Champions_League_league_phase#League_phase_table]].
For comparison, the implementation of the sticky header has also been done in a similar module {{tl|Medals table}}, see {{diff2|1240638416|diff}}. The other table I want to do for basketball is for competitions that don't use points and only work with wins and losses like, e.g., [[2014–15 Euroleague]], [[2014–15 Eurocup Basketball]] and Spanish [[2014–15 ACB season]], without points column and bolding the number of wins but this seems too complicated for me. ::<syntaxhighlight lang=lua>table.insert(t,'{| class="wikitable sticky-header'..sort_text..'" style="text-align:center;"\n')</syntaxhighlight>
::The CSS for loading the sticky header would leave it up to the user to decide whether they want the sticky header or not, as it is done by adding the {{tl|sticky header}} in testcases, see {{diff2|1301245648|diff in testcases}}.
