Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to individual television episodes. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.
This is a task force of WikiProject Television for the coverage of episode related content (as opposed to over-all show information, or other general TV article). This includes Lists of episodes, season / series / story arc articles, and individual episode articles.

This task force is the result of merging WP:TVE and WP:LOE. You will find all those guidelines, templates, and advice on this page, as well as new information. This was done to better organize all articles relating to episode-level detail.
For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

To include articles in this task force, add
episode-coverage=Yes
to WikiProject Television on the article's talk page. To assess articles for this task force add for example,
episode-coverage-importance=low
after including the articles as part of the task force.

Some advice regarding television episode article assessment:
Participants
*Top-importance episodes have attained a status of significant importance not just to a single television series, but to the history of television or pop culture at large. Examples: "The Winds of Winter" (Game of Thrones), "The Last Show" (Mary Tyler Moore Show)
* The DJ
*High-importance episodes are very important or notable in the context of an individual series, and has gained recognition to general audiences outside of that series as well. Examples: "The Contest" (Seinfeld), "Made in America" (The Sopranos)
* Wootking
*Mid-importance episodes may have particular significance in the context of an individual show, but has not necessarily gained significant importance outside of that series. Examples: "The One with Ross's Wedding" (Friends), "Scott Tenorman Must Die" (South Park)
* Nehrams2020
*Low-importance episodes are not of any particular importance, within the context of the series of the individual series or otherwise, but still satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Examples: "Ron and Tammy" (Parks and Recreation), "Lemon of Troy" (The Simpsons)

TV shows currently using these guidelines
* Buffy the Vampire Slayer
* Angel
* Stargate SG-1
* Stargate Atlantis
* Firefly
* Frasier
* Law & Order: Criminal Intent
* The Drew Carey Show
* "Max Headroom"

TV shows using similar guidelines
Other series for which there exist numerous articles about invididual episodes use similar formatting, but don't use the standardized templates. These are the most notable ones.
* Star Trek and its many spinoffs
* Alias
* List of The Twilight Zone episodes
* Wikipedia:WikiProject Doctor Who
* Babylon 5

Structure of an episode article
Naming
If there is no disambiguation, the name of the article should be the episode title written with the corresponding capital letters.

Alerts
Examples (from Lost):

*All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues
*Raised by Another

Individual episodes
When disambiguation is needed, the name will also include a parenthesis clarification with the title of the series.
Featured content
These articles about television episodes reached featured article status. You can use them as an example of what a well written episode article should look like.

Writing episode pages
Examples:

*The Romans (Doctor Who)
*Tabula Rasa (Lost)

Lists of episodes
This helps to identify cultural references in episode titles.
