Is the insertion of Wikilinks into SVGs a possibility? I read on Inkscape's website that you can add links. --Seans Potato Business 01:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) resources. Why SVG, one might ask? Look to the image on the right. SVG images stored at Wikipedia or on the Wikimedia Commons aren't actually what you see in your browser when viewing Wikipedia articles. MediaWiki converts the SVG image to a PNG image. The SVG format is the working format of the stored image so that people can more easily convert images for use in different languages. If you're using a browser other than Internet Explorer, just keep clicking the image and you'll eventually get the full-size image, which will be the SVG version. For example; keep clicking the image to the right.
:Yes, SVGs can display links or special functions, but :
:# All web browser don't understand SVG images ;
:# So, Wikipedia first convert our SVGs into PNGs to display them on Wikipedia ;
:# Accordingly, add special function to our SVG (i.e. links, SVG animations, clic-on functions, ...) are currently useless.

::There exist templates to overlay links onto images. 68.39.174.238 (talk) 21:04, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
:::You can look at this section for animated SVG. For links, I seen it (some website are totally in SVG, but 70% of the internauts can't view them -___-" because they use I.E..), but never on wikipedia.
