Moderated Discussion at Dispute Resolution Noticeboard
Howdy, folks!
Moderated discussion is in progress at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard concerning issues about the article. Please take any issues concerning this article to the noticeboard for the time being, rather than discussing them on this talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:40, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
:There was no response from User:LongTermWikiUser about the use of external links. Discussion should resume at this talk page, especially about whether any sections have too much detail. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:28, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
::Robert McClenon Please forgive me for the apparent lack of response. It is tax time is it not? Please allow people proper time to respond. May we consider the issue re-opened? Thank you, LongTermWikiUser (talk) 19:00, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
:::If you, User:LongTermWikiUser, wish to re-open moderated discussion at the dispute resolution noticeboard, you may make such a request to open a new moderated discussion. I will note that the dispute resolution noticeboard is for quick resolution of content disputes, and the other editors did participate in the discussion. However, you might be better off following the advice that I gave in closing the previous thread: file a Request for Comments if you think that there is a specific reason to make an exception in the article. I was a bit surprised that no mention was made of the APL*STAR programming language on the Control Data STAR supercomputer (evolved into the ETA 10 super). A description of the language can be found here: APL STAR reference manual

It's interesting from a historical standpoint because the original STAR-100 super was a wide-bandwidth pipelined vector processor. Scalar operations were essentially performed as vectors of length 1. What killed performance was the startup time for a vector operation. Something that Gene Amdahl said on the subject eludes my memory at the time. Later versions of the hardware included a dedicated scalar unit.

I have just added archive links to on APL (programming language). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add cbignore after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
*Added archive https://web.archive.org/20120209090113/http://www.sigapl.org/qq.htm to http://www.sigapl.org/qq.htm
*Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.dyalog.dk/whatsnew/OO4APLERS.pdf

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

Snap?
I have just modified on APL (programming language). Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:
*Added archive https://web.archive.org/web/20090411120119/http://www.mathworks.com:80/company/newsletters/news_notes/clevescorner/jan06.pdf to http://www.mathworks.com/company/newsletters/news_notes/clevescorner/jan06.pdf
*Added archive https://web.archive.org/web/20130708114840/http://catpad.net:80/michael/apl/ to http://catpad.net/michael/apl

Is Snap! really based on APL? Is it vandalism?
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at Sourcecheck).
