Hanzyrg has conflict of interest from self citing. The text regarding simulating Schrödinger-type PDEs is technically true however is disingenuously used for sole purpose of self-citing. Number of people solving schrodinger type PDEs with COMSOL is likely very little. This information is irrelevant to wiki readers of this page. Purpose of COMSOL is extremely vast in comparison to that.

COMSOL Multiphysics is a cross-platform finite element analysisanalyzer, solver, and multiphysicssimulation software package for various physics and engineering applications, especially coupled phenomena and multiphysics. ItThe software allowsfacilitates conventional physics-based user interfaces and coupled systems of partial differential equations (PDEss (PDEs). COMSOL Multiphysics provides an IDE and unified workflow for electrical, mechanical, fluid, acoustics, and chemical applications.

Beside the wide range of classical problems that can be efficiently addressed with the specific application modules, the core Multiphysics package can be used to solve broad range of PDEs in weak form. An API for weakJava formand MATLAB can be used to control the software externally. The program also serves as an application builder for physics applications. Several modules are available for COMSOL, categorized according to the applications areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Fluid, Acoustic, Chemical, Multipurpose, and Interfacing.

An API for Java and LiveLink for MATLAB may be used to control the software externally.
An App Builder can be used to develop independent custom ___domain-specific simulation applications. Users may use drag-and-drop tools (Form Editor) or programming (Method Editor).
COMSOL Server is a distinct software for the management of COMSOL simulation applications in companies.

The eponymous company COMSOL developing the software was founded in 1986 by Svante Littmarck and Farhad Saeidi in Stockholm, Sweden.
