Spider-Man 3 is a video game based on the Spider-Man 3 film. It was released May 4 2007.

The scenario draws from the film, Spider-Man comics and the Marvel Universe. The game features ten (6 in the GBA), (eight on the Wii, Portable and 2) villains including the movie's primary villains Venom, New Goblin, and Sandman.
The Rai, also known as the Khambu, is one of Nepal’s most ancient indigenous ethnolinguistic groups. The Rai belong to the Kiranti group or the Kirat confederation that includes the Limbu and the Sunuwar ethnic groups.
Gameplay
Many gameplay elements have been added or revised for this title in the series:
* Manhattan in the game is far bigger than in Spider-Man 2. The game also features over 20 miles of sewers and subways, but these are only available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game.
* Spider-Man has a brand new combat system that was worked from the ground up and includes more aerial moves and web attacks. These moves are in all versions of the game. For the Wii, the motion sensors are used during combat: the Wii Remote is used as Spider-Man's fists and the Nunchuk is used to dodge attacks.
*In the Wii version, the motion sensors are also used for web-slinging as well as combat. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk are used as Spidey's right and left hands respectively. It is possible to switch to a left handed mode, so that the Wii Remote is used as Spidey's left hand, in the options menu.
* Part of the game puts the player in control of the Black Suited Spider-Man where Spider-Man's combat system has more brutal moves and a "Rage" system that allows aggressive moves.
* The game features cineractives that are button sensitive. Game director Chris Archer explained that all the gameplay is playable, including what would be included as a cinematic.
The traditional homeland of the Rai extends across the Solukhumbu, the Okhaldhunga (home of the Bahing,Wambule subgroups), the Khotang, the Bhojpur and the Udayapur districts in the northeastern mountains of Nepal, west of the Arun River in the Sun Kosi River watershed. Rais are also found in small numbers in the Indian state of Sikkim and in the northern West Bengal towns of Kalimpong and Darjeeling.
Cast
Despite Kirsten Dunst's absence from the voice-cast due to her busy schedule, the game has the highest amount of the movie cast reprising their roles for the game in the trilogy. Despite Harry Osborn being in the two previous games, this is the first time that James Franco has voiced the character.

Development
Video game magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly was slated to have a worldwide exclusive story on the game for its October 2006 issue, going so far as to promote the exclusive in the previous issue. The issue instead shipped with a Guitar Hero II lead story, and a note from the Editor-in-Chief Dan Hsu stating that readers should "blame [director] Sam Raimi" for the change in content. A similar story was instead featured in the April 2007 issue of Game Informer.
The traditional Kiranti religion, predating Hinduism and Buddhism, is based on ancestor-worship and the placation of ancestor spirits through elaborate rituals governed by rules called Mundum. Sumnima and Parohang are worshipped as primordial parents. Sikatakhu Budo, Walmo Budi, and Jalpa Devi, among others, serve as Kiranti deities. Most Rai practice a form of syncretic Mundum that combines elements of Hinduism and Lamaism with both Hindu and Buddhist practices and major festivals. A major Rai holiday is the harvest festival, Nwogi, when fresh harvested foods are shared by all. The pujhari or priest plays an important role in Rai communities.
Spider-Man 3 has been released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. Treyarch developed the PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360 version of the game, and Beenox ported this version of the game to PC. The remaining versions of the game were developed by Vicarious Visions.
Because of the fiercely independent nature of the Rai community and its ___location at the eastern end of the consolidated Nepali nation-state, the Rai were given exceptional rights of Kipat autonomy and land ownership in their homeland of Majh (middle) Kirant.
PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Treyarch developed the game for Xbox 360 and 3. The PC version is a port developed by Beenox. These versions differ from those developed by Vicarious Visions because players cannot change into the Black Suit at will. Instead, Spider-Man will automatically switch into the Black Suit at a certain point in the storyline. Players can switch in and out of the Black Suit once they complete the game. Activision also released Spider-Man 3: Collector's Edition for the PS3, which includes webisodes, an interview with the movie's producer, a Lenticular card, and the exclusive ability to play as the New Goblin outside of a brief sequence at the end of game.
Subsistence agriculture of rice, millet, wheat, corn and even cotton is the main occupation of the Rai although many Rai have been recruited into military service with the Nepali army and police, and the Indian and British Gurkha regiments and Singapore Police Force.
Wii and PlayStation 2
Vicarious Visions developed the game for the Wii and 2. The game follows the movie but has different side missions when compared to the Treyarch versions. Vicarious Visions allows players to switch between the red and black suit at will, although using the black suit has negative consequences. These versions include two exclusive villains: Morbius, the Living Vampire, and Shriek. GameStop/EB Games exclusively carry Spider-Man 3: Special Edition for the PS2 which includes: a bonus DVD featuring "Spider-Man 3: The Story Behind the Web", an exclusive interview with Stan Lee, the Spider-Man 3 movie trailers, and a collectible lenticular card with an image from the movie. Otherwise, the games are largely the same, although the Wii version does utilize the Wii Remote's motion sensor controls for swinging and combat.
Rai women decorate themselves lavishly with silver and gold coin jewelry. Marriage unions are usually monogamous and arranged by parents, although bride capture and elopement are alternative methods. Music (traditional drums and string instruments; yele, dhol and jhyamta), dance (sakela - chandi dance) and distilled spirits (aaraakha),(ngashi),(waasim), are central to Rai culture.
PlayStation Portable
The Portable version is a port of the 2 version of the game by Vicarious Visions and is confirmed to feature a free-roaming city, unlike Spiderman 2 on Playstation Portable, which was restricted to small areas, similar to the original Spiderman. The PSP version is expected to be released this Fall, alongside the Spider-Man 3 DVD.
Sakela or Sakewa or Chandi dance is the great religious festival of kirat rai.
Nintendo DS & Game Boy Advance
Spider-Man 3 was developed for the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. Vicarious Visions developed these versions of the game. Both versions are similar to previous Spider-Man games on their respective platforms but are loosely based on the third movie and feature the black suit. The Nintendo DS version received the most positive reviews for its use of the touch screen to perform moves such as the popular 'Web Rodeo'.

Differences from the film
<!--This is for things that were altered from the film to the game. Do not list the inclusion of the non-movie characters.-->
*In the game, the symbiote gets attached to Peter on a bridge, while in the movie, the symbiote gets attached to Peter's license plate and then goes to Peter and it never shows where the meteor falls or is.
* In the film, Peter finds out that Flint Marko killed Uncle Ben. In the game, there is no backstory given to Flint, and no mention is made of Uncle Ben, until the final cutscene when Peter recounts Uncle Ben's words "With great power comes great responsibility". It is also never mentioned that Sandman turned to crime to pay for his daughter's medical care, and she doesn't appear until Venom uses her to blackmail Sandman into working with him.
* Spider-Man's first encounter with Sandman in an armored truck is omitted from the game. His fight with Harry in the black suit at Harry's home is also omitted from the game.
* In the film, Peter goes to his college professor, Dr. Curt Connors to take look at the suit specimen.
**In the Wii & PS2 version of the game, Peter goes as Spider-Man, and Connors agrees to help due to Spider-Man stopping him whilst he was the Lizard.
**In the PS3, Xbox 360 & PC version of the game, Peter has managed to get rid of the black suit prior to meeting Connors again after he is no longer the Lizard.
* The character of Gwen Stacy, who appeared in the film, doesn't appear or get mentioned in the game.
*In the film, Eddie Brock is fired from the Daily Bugle after editing a photograph to frame Spider-Man for a bank robbery.
**In the PS2/Wii version, he's fired after dressing up as Spider-Man himself & mugging people.
**In the PS3/360/PC version of the game, Eddie doesn't actually get fired, and he never actually sells any fake pictures; however, he pays someone to dress up as Spider-Man so he can take pictures to frame Spider-Man for a robbery, but Spider-Man stops him, prompting Eddie to vow to get revenge.
* In the film, Mary Jane breaks up with Peter after Harry Osborn threatens her. In the game, she does so after the black suit takes over & begins influencing Peter's behavior entirely.
* In the film, Sandman agrees to work with Venom due to Spider-Man stopping him from stealing the money to pay for his daughter's medical care, resulting in the kidnapping of Mary Jane Watson. In the game, Venom blackmails Sandman into helping kill Spider-Man by kidnapping his daughter, and holding her hostage alongside Mary Jane.
* In the film, after his fight with Peter, Harry suffers from amnesia, before regaining his memories, and he is told by his butler that his father died by his own hand, after Peter asks for his help in fighting Venom & Sandman.
**In the PS2 & Wii version of the game, Harry remains in hospital until the final fight, and he is never asked for his help, but helps Peter anyway after he realizes that "the darkness inside" his father was the reason he died, not Peter.
**In the PS3, Xbox 360 & PC version of the game, Harry never makes any reference to whether he knows if his father killed himself or not, is never asked by Peter for his help against Venom & Sandman, but like the film, he is at his home prior to the fight.
* In the film, Harry dies after wounds suffered by jumping in front of the Sky Stick when Venom attempts to stab Peter with it.
**In the PS2 & Wii version of the game, Venom throws him inside Sandman and Harry detonates several bombs inside the villain, killing himself in the process.
**In the 360/PS3/PC version, Harry again saves Peter from Venom, but it's never shown that he dies, as he is webbed up, and thrown from the building by Venom.
* In the film, Eddie Brock dies after trying to re-bond with the Venom symbiote as a pumpkin bomb destroys the symbiote.
**In the PS3, PC & Xbox 360 version of the game, Eddie falls and is impaled on some spikes, in the process killing him.
**In the PS2 & Wii version of the game, the power of the suit kills Eddie.
**In the GBA version of the game, Spider-Man flings Venom over the side of the building and the symbiote leaves Eddie in mid-air as he falls. Spider-Man looks down and sees Eddie on the ground, dead.
* In the film, Spider-Man & New Goblin fight Venom & Sandman at a construction yard, with Spider-Man's fight with Venom taking place inside the building under construction. In the Wii & PS2 version of the game, Spider-Man fights Venom in the construction yard itself, and not the building.
* In the film, Venom's voice was Topher Grace's voice, but slightly deeper. In the game, Eddie's voice receives a distortion effect when turned into Venom.

Reception
Spider-Man 3, like the movie, has received "mixed or average" reviews on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC according to Metacritic. On Gamerankings, these versions are hovering around 72% although over a third of the reviews have given the game a score of 80% or above. The key criticism for these versions is the game's similarity to its prequel. The PC version has been additionally criticized for its high minimum system requirements and 30 FPS framerate cap. On the PS2, the game has received "generally negative reviews" due to the short story mode and disappointing graphics. The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions, despite receiving only average reviews, have been universally better received than the PS2 and Wii versions. UK website Mansized were particularly critical of the Xbox 360 version, awarding it a poor 2 out of 5 stars.

In fact, the Nintendo DS version has received the most positive reviews because of its use of the touchscreen.
