He became involved in an argument: which was the fastest game bird in [[Europe]], the [[Eurasian Golden Plover|golden plover]] or the [[grouse]]? While in [[high school]], Cathy Corino was a [[Cheerleading|cheerleader]] and took part in [[field hockey]], [[softball]] and [[Athletics (track and field)|track running]]. After graduating from high school, she played [[ice hockey]] for two years.

Beaver thought that there must be numerous other questions debated nightly in the 81,400 pubs in Britain and in Ireland, but there was no book with which to settle arguments about records. Corino's older brother [[Steve Corino|Steve]] is a wrestler, and while working for [[Extreme Championship Wrestling]] (ECW) he introduced his sister to the ECW locker room. Corino befriended [[Francine Fournier|Francine]], a [[Manager (professional wrestling)|manager]] for ECW, and in [[May 2000]] Francine and Corino attended an IWA Reading wrestling show in [[Reading, Pennsylvania]] together. ECW alumnus [[Jim Fullington|The Sandman's]] wife [[Lori Fullington|Lori]] (his usual manager) was unavailable, so The Sandman invited Corino to substitute for her. Corino accepted at the urging of Francine, and enjoyed the experience, so much so that she worked for the same company again several weeks later. Several world records that were once included in the book have been removed for ethical reasons. By publishing world records in a category, the book may encourage others to try to beat that record, even at the expense of their own health and safety. For example, following publication of a "heaviest cat" record, many [[cat]] owners overfed their pets beyond the bounds of what was healthy{{Fact|date=February 2007}}, so entries such as these were removed. Likewise, records related to dangerous [[stunt]]s are often not published, for example those closely related to [[freediving]]. The Guinness Book also dropped records within their "eating and drinking records" section of Human Achievements in 1991 due to concerns that potential competitors could do harm to themselves and expose the publisher to potential [[lawsuit|litigation]]. These changes included the removal of all [[liquor]], [[wine]] and [[beer]] drinking records, along with other unusual records for consuming such unlikely things as bicycles and trees.<ref>Guinness Book of World Records 1990 edition, p. 464</ref>

Other records, such as [[sword swallowing]], were closed to further entry as the current holders had performed beyond what are considered safe human tolerance levels. There have been cases where closed records have been reopened. For example, the sword swallowing record was listed as closed in 1990 Guinness Book of World Records, but the ''[[Guinness World Records Primetime]]'' TV show, which started in 1998, accepted three sword swallowing challenges.
