Line 1:
'''Challenger, Gray & Christmas''', with headquarters located in [[Chicago, Illinois]], is the oldest executive outplacement firm in the US. It has offices in 52 cities in the US and [[Canada]], and has operations in [[Japan]] and [[Mexico]]. The firm also conducts regular surveys and issues reports on the state of the economy, employment, job-seeking, layoffs and [[executive compensation]]. They also conduct one-off surveys on such subjects as workplace bullying, lost productivity due to the Super Bowl, and working women. Their core business, finding jobs for laid-off executives, is unusual in that they will only accept as clients people whose former companies will sponsor the client's job search.

I believe the photo is public ___domain but I've emailed the photo editor at Fortean Times (where it has appeared) for clarification. BTW, what's the short form wiki way to invoke the "public ___domain" msg? [[User:AndyL|AndyL]] 18:40, 2 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Reading through that document I also see it quite casually refers to Bath as a borough of [[Wiltshire]] at the time of the [[Domesday Book]]. Hmmmmm. :) [[User:Morwen|Morwen]] - [[User_talk:Morwen|Talk]] 15:46, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Regarding the SEP entry, I acknowledge that perhaps I bent the stick a little in the other direction, however the way the entry now stands hardly conforms to NPOV and in some cases is simply wrong.

The split of the Spartacists and the Workers League from the SWP is complicated, and the issues that developed in the course of the differences between the two branches of the opposition to the SWP are not dealt with in an objective manner. As it stands, it really says nothing about the issues, and implies that the group under the leadership of Wohlforth engaged in an unprincipled split with Robertson.
[[Category:Companies based in Chicago]]

The whole section on the nature of the Workers League in the 1960s and the basis of its recruitment is simply an unsubstantiated slander. The way it deals with the departure of Wohlforth is similarly biased against the Workers League. Neither Healy nor the members of the Workers League ever declared that Wohlforth and Fields were CIA agents. What was at issue was the failure of Fields to reveal the connections of her family with the state. There were _political_ issues in the split that are not even hinted at in the entry, and one would get the impression that Healy was in the habit of going around accusing people of being in the CIA who he didn't like and that this is how the party operated.

The last paragraph is simply factually wrong. The breakdown of the WRP occurred in 1984-85. The Workers League was renamed the SEP in 1995, a decade later.

If the entry is to be NPOV its should _really_ be NPOV, and not constitute a slander against the WL/SEP. If it cannot give an evaluation of the history, then a barebones account of the historical development is preferable to a negative evaluation.

==Areas of Birmingham==
Why have you just moved several pages about areas of Birmingham from "Wibble, Birmingham" to "Wibble, West Midlands"? [[User:Pigsonthewing|Andy Mabbett]] 19:40, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hmm. I'm just creating ones where 'County of X' means something different to Xshire today. If there is to be a disambig page [[County of Gloucester]] then it needs to be more like

:The '''County of Gloucester''' could be
:*an obselete name for the county of [[Gloucestershire]]
:*a reference to [[Gloucester]] when it was a [[county corporate]]
:<nowiki>{{disambig}}</nowiki>

I don't think the counties corporate were ever referred to just as 'County of X'. They always stuck their City in. [[User:Morwen|Morwen]] - [[User_talk:Morwen|Talk]] 18:57, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

==Extreme points==
I look forward to [[Extreme points of Vatican City]]! Seriously, I love this series and think it's fascinating, but it might be a little ridiculous for every country. :No, I'm no expert on the subject either. I suppose I could add a note about such resorts in the US and the ones I've been to in the UK. Another thing for my 'to do' list! Maybe we should start a List of Seaside Resorts that people could add to? [[User:Quill|Quill]] 22:47, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)

== [[Mobile]] ==

Good idea to split the page [[Mobile]] and turn it into a disambig. Even better, would be to update the links poiting there too. -- [[User:Solipsist|Solipsist]] 10:50, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)
:I started updating the links on Friday but had to leave; I'll finish the job as soon as I have some time (ie. next day or so). Warofdreams 10:25, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)
::No worries, I've done some of the links I could recognise. Its normally easier, but in this case quite a few of the links look like they are wanting to still point to the disambig page, because their links are really to the word mobile in the dicdef sense of 'not stationary'. -- [[User:Solipsist|Solipsist]] 11:30, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)

== [[Left Communism]] ==

I tried to add a bit to 39-52, and tried to outline 52-2004. However, given my editorial decision on what is left communism in the modern era I need you to proof it before I start writing slabs of text. Did you realise that [[Autonomism]] doesn't have an entry? [[Poteria Operai]] <sp?> and [[Autonomia Operai]] and [[Lotta Continua]] don't have entries? Need some advice on it. Greetings! Thanks for 'stubbing' the Green Shirts and Social Credit party pages. I only discovered the Wikipedia a couple of weeks ago. I created the page on the Kibbo Kift and have a little list of others to be added. Next is a page on Hargrave himself. You are in Sheffield? Do you know any of the Woodcraft Folk there?

==80.255==

[[User: 80.255]] is back and seems to be determined to ignore the county naming policy that was agreed at [[Wikipedia: Naming conventions (places)]]. He has been making unnaceptable edits at [[Shipston-on-Stour]] by claiming it is in [[Worcestershire]]. He is also claiming that what he is doing is acceptable by policy, which it blatantly isn't. I'm not sure what to do about him, and I would appreciate your help dealing with him. Cheers [[User:G-Man|G-Man]] 13:09, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC) 12:40, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)

: All my changes are explained in detail, with supporting excerpts from official policy. G-man ''cannot defend his changes''. G-man refuses to discuss his changes in a sensible and logical way, and obviously would prefer to try and start an edit war. Until G-Man can defend his changes, in talk (as I have been doing) and counter my argument in a coherent manner (without calling them "unacceptable edits" but offering absolutely no explanation), and I shall continue to consider his reverts unacceptable and shall continue to revert his changes, all of which are ''explained in detail'' and all of which are ''both acceptable to policy and consistent with other articles which have been accepted as being within policy''. == Towns in... ==

I note you're conducting the admirable task of adding towns to Category:Towns in... (wherever). Keep it up. Just a couple of points of feedback: is it possible to keep the county categories as well as having the 'towns in' category or have you already accounted for this? Also [[Bletchley, Milton Keynes]] is, as the name suggests, in [[Milton Keynes]] and not in [[Buckinghamshire]]. Just something to watch in future! -- [[User:Francs2000|Graham ☺]] | [[User talk:Francs2000|Talk]] 18:38, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)
:Yes thanks, that has cleared it up, though I know one or two other editors who will take offence at the ceremonial counties being used rather than the administrative ones. Is this explained on the category page in each case? -- [[User:Francs2000|Graham ☺]] | [[User talk:Francs2000|Talk]] 18:49, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)

==Counties policy==

I was thinking of adding an explanitory note to the [[Wikipedia:Naming conventions (places)#Counties of England|counties policy]], along the lines of what I've left at [[User talk:80.255|80.255's talk page]] to explain why the policy is not contradictory. I was also thinking of making it clearer that ceremonial counties can be used for geography when a place is a unitary authority. Would you object to this? [[User:G-Man|G-Man]] 18:58, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)

:I wasn't thinking of changing the policy so much, just explaining it better, I'm not sure that a vote would be neccesary for that. I feel that the way Morwen wrote the policy is somewhat confusing, and 80.255 is exploiting that. I shall see what [[User:Angela|Angela]] thinks seem as she seems to be the gaffer round ere.
