L'album contiene rivisitazioni di diverse canzoni del gruppo, realizzate con l'avallo di un'intera orchestra ed elementi elettronici, con la collaborazione di [[David Richard Campbell|David Campbell]], compositore canadese che ha arrangiato anche i precedenti dischi del gruppo. Nell'album sono presenti anche due inediti: ''[[Imperfection]]'' e ''[[Hi-Lo (singolo)|Hi-Lo]]''.

A sostegno dell'album, gli Evanescence intrapresero il ''Synthesis Tour'', con la prima tappa tenutasi il 14 ottobre 2017 a Las Vegas.
