FrontPage in origine necessitava di [[Plugin (informatica)|plugin]] per il server, chiamati IIS Extensions. L'estensione fu rinnovata per l'inclusione nella linea di prodotti Office 97, poi rinominata [[FrontPage Server Extensions]] (FPSE). One of the more unique features of FrontPage is that it has built in support for automated and easy to use [[Web_template | web templates]].
