The One was a single released by Foo Fighters in 2002. It does not appear on any official Foo Fighters albums but did appear on the movie soundtrack album for Orange County and the following single "All My Life" as a B-side.

In the United Kingdom, the single got an incredibly limited release. The record company decided that as the song was called The One, they would produce only one copy of the single on various formats (7", 12", cassette, mini disc, cd and 3" cd) and these would be given away as highly collectible competition prizes. These are the only copies of the UK single in existence, and thus hugely sought after by Foo Fighters collectors.

The cover art resembles the cover art of the movie Fame. The video for the song (directed by Jesse Peretz) is loosely based on the movie, seeing the band members attending several art courses, namely, Dave Grohl studies acting, Nate Mendel studies to be a mime, Taylor Hawkins studies violin and Chris Shiflett attempts ballet. In the video Dave tries unsuccessfully to get the attention of a classmate.

When it aired on MTV, the chorus was slightly altered:

Unedited version:

You're not the one but you're the only one who can make me feel like this.
You're not the one but you're the only one who can make me feel like shit.

Edited version:

You're not the one, but you're the only one who can make me feel like this. (Repeat 2X)

This song was featured on the MTV series Making the Video.
