Pablo is an associate of [[record producer]] [[Timbaland]], who had hoped to sign the rapper to his [[Timbaland|Beat Club]] label, but by the time he was ready to begin negotiations, Pablo had already signed with [[Jive Records]]. He made his first professional recordings in 2001: a number of album tracks for the second Timbaland & Magoo album ''Indecent Proposal'', which was delayed for release by [[Blackground Records]] until late [[2001]], after Pablo had already become a success on his own.

Pablo's first solo single was the Timbaland-produced "Raise Up", notable for its 'black' rhythm track and Pablo's frantic verses. A follow-up single, "I", featured a guest rap from Timbaland, and was a less urban sound. These two singles were included on Pablo's first album, ''[[Diary Of A Sinner: 1st Entry]]'', released by Jive in [[2001]]. The following year, he appeared on the song "Club Banger" from the ''[[Drumline|Drumline (film)]]'' [[soundtrack]].
