Anche in questo disco si registra un nuovo cambio di formazione: infatti Powell e Bonnet ebbero qualche diverbio con Blackmore, e furono sostituiti rispettivamente da [[Bobby Rondinelli]] e da [[Joe Lynn Turner]]. Questo avvenne con la band in studio, e Turner dovette di conseguenza adattare la sua voce. La [[title track]] è basata sulla [[Sinfonia n. 9 (Beethoven)|nona sinfonia]] di [[Ludwig van Beethoven]].
