Discharge is an influential Hardcore punk band formed in the UK in 1977, whose music is characterized by a heavy, distorted, and grinding guitar-driven sound and anti-melodic shouted or screamed vocals, with lyrics on anarchist and pacifist themes.
MNM are a heel stable in World Wrestling Entertainment that team up on some occasions but not often as 2 members are on the RAW brand and the other on the SmackDown brand. They consist of Joey Mercury on SmackDown, Johnny Nitro on RAW, and their manager Melina also on RAW. Their gimmick is that they are a trio of Hollywood celebrities and their ring entrance is complete with a rolled out red carpet and accompanying paparazzi taking their pictures; as per their role as egotistical heels, Nitro, Mercury and Melina take that gimmick a step further by behaving as disrespectful, obnoxious punks. They derive their name from the first initials of the stage surnames of Mercury and Nitro and the first initial of their manager Melina. MNM was later joined by a "image consultant", Jillian Hall (though not an MNM member, she was their publicist), but Jillian left the group not long after to offer her services to John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

HistoryCareer
Discharge formed in 1977 with the original line up of Terry 'Tez' Roberts on vocals, Tony 'Bones' Roberts on guitar, Roy 'Rainy' Wainwright on guitar, Nigel Bamford on bass and Akko on drums. Shortly after Nigel Bamford left the group, and Rainy moved to bass. This line-up sounded much more like the Sex Pistols, but only recorded one demo. The line-up and the sound changed in 1979. It became: Kelvin 'Cal' Morris on vocals, Bones on guitar, Rainy on bass and Tez on drums, which many consider to be the "classic" Discharge line-up.
MNM got their start in Ohio Valley Wrestling when Matt Cappotelli brought in Melina Perez, an old girlfriend of Johnny Nitro, in spite of revenge, only to see Melina double cross Cappotelli and re-join Nitro. The pair was soon joined by Joey Mercury who teamed with Nitro as MNM. The team won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship on November 10, 2004.

The heavy, distorted, and grinding guitar-driven sound and anti-melodic shouted or screamed vocals of the new line- up, earned an early crossover appeal to fans of speed metal. Their songs focused on anarchist and pacifist themes emphasizing the grisly effects of nuclear warfare and the social ills caused by capitalism.
On SmackDown, MNM made their debut during the first edition of Carlito's Cabana, an interview segment. Carlito was interviewing WWE Tag Team Champion Rey Mysterio. Suddenly, unfamiliar music hit and MNM made their way to the ring. Melina told the confused audience that Nitro and Mercury could win the WWE Tag Team Championship. The two then attacked Rey Mysterio. The next week, MNM spraypainted Rey's partner Eddie Guerrero's prized lowrider and Eddie demanded a title match. MNM, due to interference from Melina, managed to defeat the two veterans for the titles.

The band's approach to lyric-writing also added to the raw power of the band's sound; Discharge songs often stripped down the lyrics to a guttural, repeated message, to forcefully express a song's theme. Perhaps the most extreme example of this approach is the song "Free Speech for the Dumb," which consists solely of the words from the song's title. The band was also notable for its expression of its political and social themes in its albums artwork, which depicted the horrors of war using an iconic black-and-white photography style.
MNM held the title until July 24, 2005 when they lost to Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich at The Great American Bash. The loss of the tag title was seen as bad publicity by Melina who went on to hire a publicist, Jillian Hall, to help turn the bad publicity into good publicity. On the episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown! aired October 28, 2005, MNM defeated Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal, the Mexicools, William Regal and Paul Burchill to win the tag team championship for the second time.

In 1980, Discharge signed on with Clay Records, releasing the single "Realities of War," which made the UK indie charts. After the EP releases in the same year, Discharge went through many line-up changes. Tezz (drums) departed, and was replaced by Dave 'Bambi' Ellesmere (formerly of The Insane) before the Why EP was recorded. Only briefly prior to that Welsh stixman a very young 16 year old Keith Haynes appeared on drums for a very short time before moving back to Wales to carry on his duties with Picture Frame Seduction this time on vocals In 1982, Discharge released a full album entitled Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing, which made it to the UK Albums Chart.
On the December 16 2005 edition of SmackDown!, MNM lost their championship to the team of Batista and Rey Mysterio. On the December 30, 2005 edition of SmackDown!, MNM defeated Batista and Mysterio, after help from the returning Mark Henry, to regain the WWE Tag Team Championship. It was later revealed that Mark Henry was hired for Melina's protection (because according to kayfabe, Melina had claimed that Batista had sexually harassed her the night he and Rey won the championship from MNM), although that storyline was soon abandoned as Henry became a major player in the World Heavyweight Championship picture and Melina sold Henry's services to Daivari to use in Daivari's own revenge scheme against Kurt Angle.

The "Never Again" EP saw another line-up change. Gary Maloney of The Varukers played drums. Bones departed before Warning..., which was when Discharge began adding more metal influences. The band saw yet another change in the line-up in 1985, with the release of Ignorance. The band saw many more changes with its transition into a more metallic sound and in 1985 they released Grave New World, a record to be forgotten in the Discharge discography, sounding more glam metal in style.
On the April 7 2006 edition of SmackDown!, MNM began a losing streak against the team of Paul London and Brian Kendrick in a non-title match. This losing streak involved various types of matches, including singles matches and 6 man tag matches. On the May 5, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, MNM attacked London and Kendrick before a title match could begin to gain revenge for their recent losing streak. The next week, MNM came out to gloat about themselves, with Kendrick, London and Jillian Hall attacking them and exposing their matching underwear.
After this, they disbanded, only to return in the beginning of the 1990s.

In 2002, however the original line up was finally reunited for the release of Discharge. Shortly after the release of this record, the band toured, playing to generally indifferent audiences. Cal immediately left the band and was subsequently replaced by Rat of seminal UK band, THE VARUKERS. An honor for Rat, who sports a Discharge tattoo on his neck. The band continues to play in the UK.
Split
At Judgment Day on May 21, 2006, MNM were defeated by London and Kendrick to lose their WWE Tag Team Championships. Melina and Nitro then inexplicably turned on Mercury, thus ending the MNM faction. Melina would go on to lose her match with Jillian Hall as well as her and Nitro's jobs after slapping SmackDown! GM Theodore Long in frustration.

Also in 2002, Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing was voted the number one punk album of all time in a poll by Terrorizer magazine.
Nitro along with his manager Melina would continue to team together and were moved to WWE RAW while Mercury was off television due to a legitimate failed drug test, but would return to re-unite with his former partners months later.

Vocals
On November 27, 2006, during the December to Dismember press conference, The Hardys announced that they were offering an open challenge to any tag team in the world for a match at December to Dismember. That night, during RAW, Johnny Nitro and Melina stated that they accepted The Hardys' challenge and then Joey Mercury appeared on camera while Nitro and Melina said that, for one night only, MNM would reunite at the December to Dismember pay-per-view. However, MNM would also reunite to defeat Paul London and Brian Kendrick on the Friday Night Smackdown! two days beforehand. MNM lost to The Hardy Boys at the PPV, but they teamed up with Rated-RKO on the following RAW defeating DX and The Hardy Boyz in an 8-Man Tag Team Match when Edge pinned Matt Hardy.

Influence
Nevertheless, MNM teamed up once again at Armageddon to face Paul London and Brian Kendrick, William Regal & Dave Taylor, and The Hardys in a Four-way Ladder match. MNM would lose the match, and Mercury would find himself injured mid-way through the match after being hit in the face with a ladder. He was rushed from the arena immediately and it was discovered he had a broken nose which required four stitches inside and 15 stitches outside his nose. Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy downed Nitro once again in a steel cage match at New Year's Revolution. Following the match, Nitro instructed Melina to call Joey and tell him that The Hardys are going to pay.
D-beat
Discharge also pioneered D-beat as a punk drum beat, with the D referring to Discharge. In more recent years it has also been recognised as a subgenre of Hardcore punk.
D-beat has historically enjoyed popularity in Japanese, Brazilian, and Scandinavian hardcore and punk scenes, and is currently gaining ground in North America. During, and after Discharge's career, it became surprisingly popular to imitate the band. While Discharge relied heavily on the D-beat early in their career, they did not innovate it. It can be heard in recordings that pre-date Discharge, "You Tear Me Up" from the Buzzcocks' debut album Another Music in a Different Kitchen being one example. Another example is the Velvet Undergrounds "lost" 4th album VU, the song "Andy's Chest".

Many bands that followed Discharge's stylistic approach, primarily in Sweden, began using the "Dis-" prefix in their names, and even began using "Des-" words with "Dis-" in its place as a parody. Examples include Disfear, Disclose, Discard, Disarm, Dissucks, and Distraught. The bands who followed this naming trend also used clones of Discharge's large white logo lettering.
