It stands on the south bank of the [[River Thames]], in the [[More London]] development by [[Tower Bridge]]. Designed by [[Norman Foster, Baron Foster of Thames Bank\|Norman Foster]], it opened in July [[2002]]. The building has an unusual bulbous shape, intended to reduce the [[building]]'s surface area and thus improve [[Energy conservation\|energy efficiency]]. It has been compared variously to [[Darth Vader]]'s helmet, a misshapen [[Egg (food)\|egg]], a human [[scrotum]], a [[woodlouse]] or a [[motorcycle helmet]]. London Mayor [[Ken Livingstone]] referred to it as a "glass [[testicle]]". Its designers reportedly saw the building as a giant sphere hanging over the Thames, but opted for a more conventionally rooted building instead. The building has no front or back on conventional terms but derives its shape from a modified sphere. ~~'''Sesshomaru''' (殺生丸 ''Sesshōmaru'') is a character in the [[anime]] and [[manga]] series ''[[InuYasha]]''.~~ City Hall was constructed on a site formerly occupied by wharves serving the [[Pool of London]]. The building does not belong ~~{{spoiler}}~~ to the GLA but is leased under a 25-year rent. It forms part of a larger development called [[More London]], including offices and shops. Next to City Hall is a sunken [[amphitheatre]] called The Scoop, which is used in the summer months for open-air performances; it is not, however, part of the GLA's jurisdiction. ~~==Character and history==~~ A 500 metre (1,640 foot) [[helical]] [[walkway]], reminiscent of that in [[New York City\|New York]]'s [[Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum]] ascends the full height of the building. At the top of the ten-story building is an exhibition and meeting space called "London's Living Room," with an open viewing deck which is occasionally open to the public. The walkway provides views of the interior of the building, and is intended to symbolise transparency; a similar device was used by Foster in his design for the rebuilt [[Reichstag (building)\|Reichstag]] in [[Germany]]. He is a powerful demon lord ([[taiyokai\|taiyōkai]], literally ''great [[yokai\|yōkai]]''). He often appears aloof and indifferent, and rarely shows any emotions other than slight annoyance or dissatisfaction. He thinks highly of himself and is cruel to others, though he is protective of his minions. He cares little for others, and thinks of humans in particular as mere mortals that are, while at times amusing, ultimately expendable. With the ambition to walk the path of conquest, he desires to become stronger, (although he is incredibly strong already, possibly as strong or stronger than Naraku) even at the expense of others. He will not, however, use the Shikon no Tama shards to gain strength, which separates him from other demons questing for power. He believes that struggle is the only way for survival and especially despises [[InuYasha (character)\|InuYasha]], his half-human half-demon ([[hanyo\|hanyō]]) brother, who wields the powerful [[Tetsusaiga]], a sword made from one of their father's fang that can kill 100 yōkai in one strike. City Hall is not in the [[City of London]], whose headquarters is in the [[Guildhall, London\|Guildhall]] north of the Thames. The predecessors of the Greater London Authority, namely the [[Greater London Council]] and the [[London County Council]], had their headquarters at [[County Hall, London\|County Hall]], upstream on the South Bank. Although County Hall's old council chamber is still intact, the building is unavailable for use by the GLA due to the building's conversion into, amongst other things, a luxury hotel, amusement arcade and [[aquarium]]. Sesshomaru's "minions" Include Jaken, and Rin, Jaken is consistantly abused by Rin, a human girl who appears to be about 8. (she steps on him, kicks him, ect) And Jaken caries with him the fire-spitting Staff of Two heads, which he uses in the movie Affections Touching Across Time to destroy a flock of Menomarou's poisonous moths. == External links==▼ Sesshomaru does have [[Tenseiga]], another sword made from his father's fang. Sesshomaru's father was a very wise and a great dog demon lord. He hid it well from both brothers for quite some time and prevented it from being misused by casting a barrier around the sword so that a full-blooded yōkai or one without compassion for humans cannot hold or wield the ''Tetsusaiga''. It is for this reason that Sesshomaru is unable to hold or wield the sword. However, even knowing that he cannot touch the sword, Sesshomaru still desires to take it from InuYasha, as he feels it rightfully belongs to him and not his hanyō sibling. For this reason he fought with InuYasha in their father's burial grounds and by chance, InuYasha transformed the blade for the first time and hacked off Sesshomaru's left arm. After he obtained the ''Tokijin'', he seems to have lost interest in the ''Tetsusaiga''. Subsequently he decided to kill Naraku as well. Later she realized her mistake, but the demon won't grant her freedom. Sesshomaru, grasping the Tetsusaiga despite its barrier, released the princess from the yōkai and quoted: "feel free to play your flute for me in the afterlife". Later on in the manga the Tenseiga is reforged to become a weapon and becomes capable of sending a black, crescent shaped wave which sends whatever it touches straight to afterlife. It can fire off extremely powerful blasts of pure hate energy and is initially thought to be tessaiga's equal, however as the series progressed the tessaiga gained new abilities in it's red and crystal forms. There are two different ways of using it. One is to extend your arm and point it at your opponent to blow them back and injure them with a powerful pinkish-purple aura. The other way is to slash with it releasing a powerful wave of blue energy. '''Staff of Heads''' (also called Staff of Skulls, 人頭杖, ''nintōjō''): Locates his father's grave, can fire streams of flame and generate floods of water. The staff is usually held by his assistant [[Jaken]]. '''Fluffy scarf''': There is no real name for this item. It is the fluffy, scarf like item on Sesshomaru's shoulder. He can extend it to great lengths, and use it to whip or constrict people (some people have said it was his tail). Rumiko Takahashi reportedly nicknamed it "Moko-Moko-Sama" ~~==Name==~~ The kanji of 'Sesshō' means 'to kill or destroy.' 'Maru' is usually a suffix that is often added at the end of a Japanese name for young males in samurai families. They would use this name until they were recognized as adults, whereupon they would adopt a new name. However, it is said that 'maru' can also translate as the word for 'circle', which is a common Japanese motiff for what in the West is called 'the circle of life.' Thus it is widely assumed that the name Sesshomaru translates literally as 'destruction of the circle of life', or 'end of the circle of life.' ~~==Appearance==~~ Sesshomaru is often considered [[bishonen\|bishōnen]] due to his slightly feminine appearance even though his attitude is contrary to this notion. This has granted him many fangirls across the wide span of InuYasha fans. His true demon form is that of a giant white dog with markings similar to those he has in his human form. Several times during the [[anime]] and [[manga]] when he becomes furious or badly injured his features can be observed shifting slightly into resembling his true form.
