==Early history==

*[[Wikipedia:Five pillars|The five pillars of Wikipedia]]
The company was founded in [[1964]] by Roger Curtis and Lee Yurada, aircraft workers at the [[Douglas Aircraft]] plant in nearby [[Long Beach, California|Long Beach]]. [[Slot car]]s were at the height of their popularity in Southern California at the time, so Curtis and Yurada decided to open a slot car track as a side business. Their experience in fabricating aircraft parts soon led them into producing slot car parts and accessories. So successful was the venture that it turned into a full-time business which they named Associated Electrics. The new company specialized in the manufacturing of a full line of slot car parts, chassis and accessories.

The business had grown by 1969 and was located in a small building in [[Paramount, California|Paramount]]. Personal issues arose between Curtis and Yurada, leading Curtis to approach early R/C racer Gene Husting in hopes that Husting would buy Yurada's share of Associated. The popularity of slot cars was on the wane, but Husting was certain that radio control would flourish as the technology grew. Almost as if in anticipation of the fact, Associated had just introduced a 1:8-scale gas-powered racer, the RC1. Husting agreed to the buyout. Still very much a small business, Associated had a grand total of only six employees: Husting, Curtis, Husting's wife Midge, and three others.

In 1971, Associated moved to [[Santa Ana, California]] where they began production of the Husting-designed RC100. The first [[IFMAR]] race at [[Pomona, California|Pomona's]] Thorp Raceway (later to become the Ranch Pit Stop, temporary home of [[Team Losi]]) saw the first five places swept by the RC100. The prestige of sweeping such a prestigious race was not overlooked by the world's top R/C drivers. Before long, the RC100 was winning races all over the world.

==Approved for AWB!==
Associated would double in size thanks to Roger's next design, the 1:12-scale RC12 electric onroad racer. Simpler and far less expensive than the RC100, the RC12 is credited for much of the hobby's growth as a sport. The next generation RC12i would, like the RC100 before it, win an IFMAR first, namely the first ever IFMAR 1:12 Electric World Championship.
Thank you for your recent application to use [[WP:AWB|AutoWikiBrowser]]. I have approved your request and you should now be able to use the AWB application. ==Editors that don't provide an edit summary tend to look like vandals==
==The growth of electric racing==
I have noticed you commonly don't enter an edit summary{{#if:Cannibal Corpse discography|<nowiki> </nowiki>as you didn't when you edited [[Cannibal Corpse discography]]{{#if:http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cannibal_Corpse_discography&curid=8493046&diff=102546599&oldid=102456361|<nowiki> </nowiki>(see [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cannibal_Corpse_discography&curid=8493046&diff=102546599&oldid=102456361 this edit])}}}}. This causes me problems. When I patrol for vandalism, I use the summary to make a preliminary decision on whether or not the post is a vandal edit or not. If the summary is present (or at least a section header, the part inside the /* */), I commonly decide the edit is legit and move on.

However, if no edit summary is available, I typically resort to loading the diff for the edit. This takes time. For that reason, if your edits are all valid, I ask that you provide edit summaries. For more on how to enter an edit summary, please read [[Help:Edit summary]].
As electric racing continued to grow, 1980 would see one of Associated's most important partnerships come to fruition when electrical engineer and avid R/C racer Mike Reedy joined Associated. Reedy's development of [[Yokomo]]-based motors and carefully matched battery packs led Associated's dominance of electric racing. Reedy-powered cars are credited with 23 IFMAR World Championships to date, the most of any R/C motor manufacturer.

Incidentally, it is not just me that appreciate having edit summaries. When you omit your summary, you may be telling various bots that you are vandalizing pages. For this reason, please consider providing that summary. It is very important. You can enter that summary via the edit summary box on edit pages (as shown below).
==The [[RC10]]==

[[Image:Edit Summary-2.png]]
Roger Curtis's 1984 design of a serious 1:10-scale electric off road car not only led to explosive growth within the company, but within the world of R/C racing as well. This new vehicle was the now-famous RC10 buggy. Built on a 4140 aircraft alloy chassis, the new car was, unlike its Japanese counterparts of the time, a serious offroad racing machine. Another 1-2-3 IFMAR sweep would follow in 1985 at the first ever 1:10 Offroad IFMAR World Championships. The RC10, possibly more than any R/C vehicle before or since, is credited with making the single biggest impact on radio control racing. The success of the RC10 forced Associated to move to their current facility in Costa Mesa in 1987.

<div style="margin-left:20px;">The edit summary appears in black italics in the following places:
That same year, professional racer Cliff Lett joined Associated to head the research and development department. This department, comprised of Lett, Curtis and Husting's son, Curtis, were responsible for the RC10 cars that won the IFMAR World Championships in 1989 in Australia, and in 1991 in Detroit. The success of the RC10 coupled with other cars of the time, namely the RC12LW, the RC10L, RC10LSS and the RC10T kept kits back ordered for five years and prompted the necessity of a second building in Costa Mesa.

Gene Husting helped develop cars for Associated until 2000, when he retired. He is responsible for the lineup up to the RC10B3, RC10T3, TC3 and GT RTRs. Five years after his retirement, the company branched off into an entirely new line of offroad racers with the introduction the 1:18-scale electric [[Associated RC18T|RC18T and RC18MT]] miniature trucks. In 2006, with 20 IFMAR victories in all [http://www.rc10.com/racerhub/races/IFMARChampionships.htm], Team Associated is the world's "winningest" R/C car manufacturer. Reedy motors, a division of Associated, has powered 23 IFMAR World Champions.

A modified RC10 with an off-the-shelf Parma International 1963 [[Chevrolet Corvette]] body was used in the famous chase scene in the 1988 motion picture, ''[[The Dead Pool]]''. In it, [[Clint Eastwood]] as [[Dirty Harry|"Dirty Harry" Callahan]] is being pursued through the streets of [[San Francisco, California]] by a highly explosive bomb disguised as an R/C car. The "bomb" was actually driven by IFMAR world-champion race driver Jay Halsey. The car was in fact an electric; the sounds of a nitro-powered engine were added in post-production.

===License tagging for Image:ItJustGetsWorse.jpg===
Thanks for uploading [[:Image:ItJustGetsWorse.jpg]]. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags|image tag]] applied to the [[Wikipedia:Image description page|image description page]] indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

==Off shoots & Conversions==
Team Associated cars have been at the heart of small companies conversions several times. Many off-road buggies have been developed from the TC3 chassis, most notably the TC3 'o', the Durnago range, and recently( and most successfully, Jconcepts with their Bj4 and Worlds winng BJ4 'worlds'.

===Orphaned fair use image (Image:CannibalCorpse1.jpg)===
All these cars are based around the TC3's solid transmission, which uses 2 bevel geared diffs, with a prop shaft connecting them. On the Bj4, Jconcpets used AE diff cases and diff's, and modified the shaft to include a slipper unit. Since then, Jconcepts have updated the Bj4, to the worlds winning 'worlds' edition. Another company worthy of mention, is Atomic carbon, through whom, a conversion of the Bj4 worlds has sprung, and is currently in development. The car goes by the name 'slim4' taking a BJ4 worlds kit, and modifying the layout slightly, giving it a moulded carbon fibre chassis, and updating several other parts. This car is to be Driven by Ex- Losi, and now CML/AE/atomic carbon driver Chris Doughty, next year, in the Uk nationals. The slim 4 features a bodyshell designed to cool the internals of the car.

Atomic Carbon also have a prototype 'Slim2' in development, this uses the slim 4 chassis as a base, to create a 2wd vehicle.

===Fair use rationale for Image:10.000 Watts.jpg===
Another company aspiring to create a AE hybrid car are teamyrd. Standing for team Yorkshire racing developments, they are in the process of creating several prototypes for testing and trials at the infamous Batley Outdoor and Indoor tracks. The car is hoping to be debuted February -March 2007, with a few drivers taking these cars to national level.

In the On-Road scene, the Associated RC12 series of cars have long been a base for other manufacturers to base similar designs around. The unique front suspension from the RC12L3 (and updated on the RC12L4) has become industry standard and is now featured on the majority of competitive 1:12th scale racing chassis.

Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:10.000 Watts.jpg]]'''. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the [[copyright]] status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]], but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our [[Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria|first fair use criterion]] in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

# Go to [[:Image:Jayson_Sherlock.jpg|the image description page]] and edit it to add <code><nowiki>{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}</nowiki></code>, '''without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template'''.
# On [[Image talk:Jayson_Sherlock.jpg|the image discussion page]], write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission|requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license]], or by taking a picture of it yourself.

Sine the talk page for [[Marilyn Manson (band)]] is a bit deserted at the moment, I decided to ask your opinion: I've been thinking about doing a separate article about the official Manson website, I just don't really know if the subject is notable enough or is it a good idea at all. <span style="border:1px solid #ef5f03;"><b><font color="#ef5f03">[[User:Goldenglove|Goldenglove]]</font></b>[[Special:Contributions/Goldenglove|Contribs]]<span style="white-space:nowrap; font-weight:bold;">&nbsp;·</span>[[User_talk:Goldenglove|Talk]]</span> 10:50, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

The article about the website is near-finished (there are a few images to upload, it'll be the last thing to do, I think), but I didn't find any info about the MA-era website. ==Why?==
...must you keep moving comments and changing indenting on talk pages? (in particular [[Talk:Minutes to Midnight (album)]]. Dear Rtiztik,

I was hoping that you and I could become pals. I have some questions for you:

Are you a fan of:
* [[Black Sabbath]] (any era)
* [[Slayer]]
* [[Pantera]]
* [[Children of Bodom]]
* or [[Rob Zombie]]?
(These are just a few of my favorite bands; visit my user page!

How do you put images onto Wikipedia? A bunch of album covers are missing from the Black Sabbath page.

And...
Are you a fan of [[The Sopranos]]?
Let me know, and I appreciate any help on the images advice!

:This are my last things to talk to you about today: What concerts have you been to? I've seen (in chronological order) [[Velvet Revolver]], [[NOFX]], [[Slayer]] (the [[Unholy Alliance Tour]]), [[Rob Zombie]] w/ [[Shinedown]] & [[Godsmack]], [[Black Label Society]] w/ [[Sanctity]], and on August 11th, 2007, when they come to my hometown of Atlanta, GA, [[Korn]] on the [[Family Values Tour]].

:You're 16, dude? I was born in November 1989! Most of the kids my age, who even listen to rock music, only care about mainstream bands like Three Days Grace, Fall Out Boy, 30 SEconds To Mars and the like. Yeah, most of the kids at my high school are either the "gangsta"-type African-Americans who listen to rap, or Hispanics that listen to Hispanic music. Not saying that there's anything wrong with that; to each his/her own. But I'd like to find more people who share my interests, like you.

:Oh, thanks for helping me with images! I'll try and restore some Black Sabbath album covers and more tomorrow.

:Nice selection in music, dude! I didn't know you were one of the guys who operated WikiManson or whatever (I didn't even know that existed!) Marilyn Manson's music is great if you're in an industrial mood, but I'm more of a thrash/death metal fan. Personally, I prefer his older albums to ''Eat Me, Drink Me'', but I'm glad that he's finally making music again!

You've heard of [[Sepultura]], right? Their original drummer, [[Igor Cavalera]], is currently drumming for Necro. I'm kinda worried about Sepultura, though... Even though guitarist [[Andreas Kisser]] has been with the band for 20 years (and I pretty much consider him an "original" member), bassist [[Paulo Pinto]] is the sole-remaining member of the band. Kind of like [[Tony Iommi]] was Sab's only original member throughout the years. Singer [[Derrick Green]] is OK, but I don't think he's as good of a singer/screamer as [[max Cavalera]] was. And now, Sepultura has brought in Jean Dollabella on drums; he's from some alt-rock/post-grunge Brazilian band called Udora. Who knows, though; maybe their [[13th Sepultura Album|upcoming album]] will be a pleasant surprise for longtime fans (such as myself).

That really does suck that you've never been to a concert... Once you start, it's like a drug, you just can't stop!!!

Talk to you again soon, dude! Slayer can be our next discussion if you like.

:Wassup man! Have you heard about [[Rob Zombie]]'s latest musical approach? He's going to guest-star on [[Three Six Mafia]]'s upcoming release. I find that odd, in that he's the only ''metal'' guest artist and all the rest are rap, but in a way not so odd, since that rap group is "Satanic."

:By the way, the comment in ''It's Time To See Religion Die'' ("You got shit with me, bro?") was something that an unsigned user did, not me. Since we haven't spoke in a few days, I was just clarifying that.

==Counter-Racism/"End of the World"==
Y'know, at least where I live (ATL, GA), counter-racism is very strong, as is plain-old racism. It seems that EVERY non-White race out there is blaming all of their inconvieniences and problems on people like me. Whites who have never done anything to these people (in the past couple of decades, at least). We've even cleared out our wooded areas to make new houses and places to work; they filled these. I thought that it would be a positive contribution to our community. I'm all for racial unification.

But here comes hip-hop with counter-racist songs (take Kanye West's "George Bush Don't Like Black People" and, not sure who it's by, "White Man Down" to stir up unnessicary and damaging counter-racism. Dude, when I was 12, I got mugged, black eye and all, because I walked through a little gathering of black people in my middle school. I kid you not.

Now let's discuss illegal aliens. These people are incredibly common in my community as well. Throughout America's history, we've always been open towards immigrants. Hell, that's how my great-great-grandparents got here: they were German peasants, escaping that country just as the Nazi movement was taking shape. Jews, Germans, Irish, Italian, Polish, Russian... What do all of these past immigrant waves have in common? For the most part, THEY WERE LEGAL CITIZENS. I have no problem with Hispanic people, especially if they abide by America's set rules for becoming legal citizens. I think that it's incredibly wrong what the illegal immigrants are doing: stealing jobs and houses, escaping taxes and taking our currency into their country and coming back loaded. There's just something wrong with that.

Basically, it's Black/Hispanic/Asian/Bosnian/anyone else you can think of... versus White. What the Hell did I ever do? Why does my life, and the lives of so many others, have to be basically persecuted?

Some might say that the end of the world will be caused by "the wrath of God." Not in my opinion. If things keep going the way that they are, we will be. I don't like to be negative and critical of others, but this counter-racist movement has to stop.

== Korn's Untitled Leak ==

So, how is it?

Poppy, huh? I didn't think what I heard of the album was NEARLY as poppy as SYOTOS. Plus, didn't Jon Davis himself say that Atticus Ross gave the songs a more "gothic" sound? Either I heard wrong or Jon flat out lied about what the album sounds like. "Evolution" sounds pretty gothic to me, as does "I Will Protect You." Hm... I'll still go and buy the album.

P.S. Compared to some of the other bands I listen to, such as Slayer, Dying Fetus and Cannibal Corpse, Korn can sound pretty weak in comparison. But I don't compare Korn to those guys because they're a completely different style of heavy metal.

As far as the Korn reunion goes, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. If they ever do, though... How will they work the SYOTOS and ''Untitled'' songs? Would they do what Black Sabbath did (Ozzy sings only material from 1970-1978) and play only ''Korn''-''Take a Look in the Mirror'' material, or have Head learn the rhythm guitar parts that Munky played on the album? Heh, it's a neat thing to think about, but we'll just have to see what happens.

BTW, thanks for posting on my discussion page again, man!
