Line 1:
Southern California Edison, the largest subisdiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electicity supply company for much of the lower half of the State of California, the region known as Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity. However, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, San Diego Gas & Electric, Imperial Irrigation District and some smaller municipal utilities take substantial chunks out of its territory. The Northern part of the state is generally served by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company of San Francisco.
Preston North End Football Club are a professional English football team. They currently (2003-2004) play in the Nationwide League Division One, under the management of Craig Brown.

Southern California Edison (SCE) still owns all of its electrical transmission facilities and equipment, but the deregulation of California's electricity market forced the company to sell many of its power plants. In California, SCE only retained its hydroelectric plants and its share of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The utility lost all of its natural gas-fired plants, which provided most of its electrical generation. The large, aging plants were bought by out of state companies such as Mirant and Reliant Energy. However, SCE still owns about half of the large coal-fired Mohave Generating Station in Laughlin, Nevada.
Their home ground is at Deepdale in the city of Preston, Lancashire, and they are nicknamed, the 'Lilywhites'.

Diversity
Formed in 1881 and one of the founding members of the English Football League in 1888, Preston North End won the first league championship (1888-89). The club was also the first to achieve the 'double' of winning the FA Cup (1889, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0) and the English Football League championship in the same season.
Southern California Edison received a 100% rating on the Corporate Equality Index released by the Human Rights Campaign starting in 2004, the third year of the report.

Preston North End played in the top two divisions of the League continuously until 1970. They also won the FA Cup in 1938 (beating Huddersfield Town 1-0). In 1970, however, they were relegated to Division 3 for the first time, but bounced back by winning the Division 3 championship 1970-71. The club did not maintain its position though, dropping eventually to Division 4 in 1985.
