History
Piccadilly Magic 1152, ‘Greatest Hits Non-Stop,’ is Manchester's oldest commercial radio station. It began broadcasting on 02/04/1974 as Piccadilly 261/103 FM. The station is named after Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, and the station had its first studios in the Piccadilly Plaza complex of Piccadilly Gardens. Many famous presenters started their careers at the station, including Chris Evans, Dave Ward, Mike Sweeney and James Stannage. Piccadilly is the AM sister station of Key 103, which began broadcasting when stations were made to broadcast separate services on their FM/AM frequencies. Key 103 has been Manchester's most popular radio station for many years.

The founders of HK Magazine are Greg Duncan, Stephen Freeman and Gretchen Worth. In 1989, considering Hong Kong as a suitable place to start a city living magazine, they decided to establish an English-language magazine.
When Piccadilly Radio split into two services in 1988, Key 103 broadcast on FM with an AC format, whilst Piccadilly Gold broadcast on AM with a Gold format. In the mid-1990s The station became Piccadilly 1152 as the play list moves away from 'golden oldies' to a mix of classic and current easy listening music. The late night phone in with James Stannage became the most listened to talk show outside London, whilst the Dave and Umberto breakfast show helped the station to become one of the biggest broadcasting on AM.

The first issue of HK Magazine was published in June 1991 by a local private company Asia City Publishing Limited. It had 24 pages and a circulation of 15,000. As the name of the magazine suggests, it is a magazine about life in Hong Kong. It started off as a monthly magazine and was originally called "HK: the indispensable Hong Kong Guide", as depicted on the cover, although it was also referred to as "HK Magazine".
In 1999/2000 the parent company EMAP re-branded the station as Magic 1152, to fall in-line with the other 8 Magic Radio stations they owned across London and the north of England, with shared off-peak programming in 2001. In January 2003 after a decline of listening, the station ceased networking with the London station, Magic 105.4, and a regional northern network was created with Magic 1152 at the hub.

In November 1992, because of the ambiguity of the name and the change of the publisher's schedule, the magazine was renamed as "HK Magazine" and was published bi-weekly for almost three years.
In 2004, the station was again referred to as Piccadilly Magic 1152 in recognition of 30 years on-air. News is broadcast locally from 6am to 7pm with IRN national news featuring on the hour between 7pm and 5am. There is also a full news programme on-air at 6pm called 'Magic at Six'

Later in September 1995, it became a weekly magazine. There was also an increase in its variety. Now, the regular number of pages is 64-72 and it had a circulation of 50,000.
