First computer was a [[Vic-20]] in the early 80s and grew up in the 80's with the 8088s and the [[BBS]] scene (WWIV and Searchlight). Received a Bachelors in History degree from [[St._Mary's_College_of_Maryland|St.Marys College of Maryland]] in 1992. Created numerous shareware (TimeCard) and commercial (3D Laser Photocopier) applications in 'C' for DOS. Sold [http://groups.google.com/groups?q=balbach+linux+disk&start=30&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&scoring=d&selm=1r1aa5%24miu%40access.digex.net&rnum=40 Linux on 50 floppy disks] out of my basement in 1993 during the last recession, makeing me the first person to commercially sell [[Slackware]]. Co-founded the second [[ISP]] in [[Maryland]] and first in [[Baltimore]] called [[ClarkNet]] in early 1993. Won numerous state and national Small Business awards including articles in [[Fortune Magazine]], [[Washington Post]], [[NPR]]. Sold to [[Verio]] which then sold to [[NTT]] (Japan) in 2000 just before The Crash.
