== Paesi che non hanno riconosciuto il Kosovo ==
Circa 10 minuti dopo che la dichiarazione d'indipendenza del Kosovo è stata letta ed approvata dal Parlamento provinciale del Kosovo, è arrivata la replica ufficiale da parte della [[Serbia]], che considera il Kosovo parte inalienabile del suo territorio e culla della sua storia sin dal [[Medio Evo]] e ha minacciato ritorsioni internazionali quali il ritiro degli ambasciatori dai paesi che riconosceranno il Kosovo.
 
Diversi altri paesi si sono fermamente dichiarati contrari all'indipendenza del Kosovo. Tra essi importantissima è la presa di posizione da parte della [[Russia]] che è anche membro permanente del [[Consiglio di Sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite]] e che ha potere di veto.
 
Cinque stati membri dei 27 dell'[[Unione europea]] non riconoscono il Kosovo: [[Spagna]], [[Slovacchia]], [[Romania]], [[Grecia]] e [[Cipro]].
