I Wolves piazzano comunque un colpo di mercato ingaggiando la [[Guardia (pallacanestro)|guardia]] [[Brandon Roy]] ([[NBA Rookie of the Year Award|Rookie of the Year]] nel [[2007]] e 3 volte [[NBA All-Star Game|All-Star]]), il quale, dopo essersi ritirato dall' attività agonistica a causa di problemi cronici a un ginocchio, aveva passato un anno tra riposo e riabilitazione ristabilendosi completamente e aveva quindi deciso di tornare a giocare.
