Renegade Soundwave (RSW)
Early use of sampling and computer technology, DJ skills, sub-bass exploration. Formed in London during the late '80s, Renegade Soundwave applied the punk and industrial ethic to both dub and dancefloor electronica. The trio debuted on [[Rhythm King Records]] with the 1987 single "Kray Twins," and moved to [[Mute Records]] one year later for an EP, Biting My Nails. (4)The release of the seminal LP RSW In Dub is credited with joining the dots between the emerging electronic, dub, rave, industrial and indie scenes of the late 1980s / 1990s. Cited as a major influence on artists such as The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers and on the Drum & Bass, Techno, Breakbeat and Trip Hop movements. Although some of the band’s more commercial output made the British and European pop charts, perhaps the most highly regarded track "The Phantom" has proved an enduring anthem. (8) "Ozone Breakdown", "The Phantom', "Women Respond to Bass", "Biting My Nails" , "Probably A Robbery" and "Renegade Soundwave" were all US Billboard top five dance singles. (4)
