== StoriaEtimologia ==

Il teatro romano di Milano venne eretto durante l'[[età augustea]], tra la fine del [[I secolo a.C.]] e l'inizio del [[I secolo]]. L'edificio aveva una scena alta 20 metri ed una cavea del diametro di 95 metri e poteva ospitare tra i 7000 e i 9000 spettatori, in un'epoca in cui Milano contava all'incirca 18000 abitanti. La zona in cui sorse era nevralgica all'interno dell'antica Mediolanum, come confermato dai ritrovamenti di ricche domus romane nelle sue vicinanze<ref name="02blog.it">[http://www.02blog.it/post/2225/il-teatro-romano-sotto-la-camera-di-commercio Il teatro romano sotto la camera di commercio]</ref>. Il teatro mantenne la sua funzione originaria fino al [[IV secolo|IV]] o al [[V secolo]], quando gli [[decreti teodosiani|editti di Teodosio]] e la progressiva conquista di potere da parte della [[Chiesa (istituzione)|Chiesa]] iniziarono ad ostacolare le rappresentazioni teatrali e i giochi negli [[anfiteatro|anfiteatri]]. Inoltre nel [[402]] Milano aveva perso il titolo di capitale imperiale, che aveva assunto nel [[287]]. L'ultimo spettacolo di cui ci è giunta notizia è la proclamazione a console, all'interno del teatro, di [[Manlio Teodoro]] nel [[399]]. In tale occasione si svolse anche una naumachia.

== Descrizione ==

Il teatro venne utilizzato come luogo di ritrovo del senato cittadino durante l'[[storia di Milano#Milano comunale|età comunale]] come testimoniato da due atti risalenti al [[1119]] e al [[1140]]. Come gran parte della città venne distrutto nel 1162 da [[Federico Barbarossa]].

Si tratta di [[Falena|falene]] di dimensione media o medio-grande, con abitudini tendenzialmente notturne e crepuscolari, e caratterizzate da una buona capacità di volo. Il corpo è alquanto robusto e in particolare il [[torace degli insetti|torace]] e l'[[Addome degli insetti|addome]] appaiono rivestiti da una fitta peluria.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 />

I resti vennero rapidamente ricoperti da altre costruzioni, del teatro si perse memoria e fu riscoperto solo verso la fine del [[XIX secolo]], nel 1880, durante la costruzione di [[palazzo Turati]]. I mezzi dell'epoca non permisero però il riconoscimento della struttura a cui appartenevano i ruderi<ref name="02blog.it"/>. Nel [[1929]] sorse sui suoi resti anche il [[Palazzo Mezzanotte|palazzo della Borsa]] durante la quale costruzione fu riconosciuto l'antico teatro da parte della dott.ssa Alda Levi, all'epoca responsabile della Regia Soprintendenza ai Monumenti di Milano. Ulteriori studi vennero effettuati verso la fine degli [[Anni 1940|anni quaranta]] e da alcune indagini archeologiche nel [[1988]] e nel [[2005]].

Da febbraio [[2008]] è possibile visitare, gratuitamente e previa prenotazione, sotto il palazzo della Camera di Commercio, i resti dell'antica struttura. Oltre a pannelli esplicativi la mostra offre una visita nell'antica Mediolanum anche grazie alla riproduzione dei rumori e degli odori che si potevano percepire nel teatro.

Le [[Antenna degli insetti|antenne]] dei [[Maschio|maschi]] sono bipettinate fino all'apice, ma talvolta anche tripettinate, nel caso in cui l'asse centrale dell'[[Glossario entomologico#antennomero|antennomero]], che di norma è rivestito di fitte scaglie, presenti un'ulteriore dentellatura ventrale più o meno pronunciata; nelle [[Femmina|femmine]], al contrario, la struttura delle antenne può essere affine a quella dei maschi, oppure, a seconda dei casi, anche unipettinata o dentellata, o addiruttura pressoché filiforme.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 />

==L'edificio==

Il teatro aveva una facciata esterna curva, a due piani, con oltre trenta arcate su un piano.

La [[cavea]] poggiava su camere con soffitto a volta, disposte a raggiera intorno all'orchestra. Un corridoio divideva le gradinate in due settori, permettendo al pubblico di accedere al posto assegnato.

Il teatro di Milano era largo circa 100 m e alto almeno 20. Nell'edificio scenico, la parete di fondo aveva colonne di [[marmo]] bianco e in calcare disposte su due o tre piani, tra le quali dovevano essere collocate [[nicchie]] con [[statue]].

Alle spalle dello stesso edificio fu eretto un ampio cortile rettangolare, chiuso verso l'esterno da muri e dotato all'interno di un portico. Il teatro di Milano era dunque provvisto di una area porticata ad uso degli spettatori situata alle spalle dell'edificio nella quale radunarsi in caso di pioggia e durante l'intervallo, la ''porticus post scaenam''.

È probabile che alla fine del IV secolo d.C., secondo quanto riferisce il poeta [[Claudiano]], l'orchestra del teatro sia stata trasformata in una specie di piscina dove mime seminude si esibivano in danze.

Le [[apparato boccale degli insetti|appendici boccali]] sono ridotte oppure del tutto assenti. Le setole dei [[Glossario entomologico#pilifer|lobi piliferi]] sono mancanti o fortemente ridotte. I [[Apparato boccale degli insetti#Mascelle|palpi mascellari]] sono vestigiali, mentre quelli [[Apparato boccale degli insetti#Labbro inferiore|labiali]] possono essere da ridotti a molto sviluppati, e diritti o ascendenti (di solito più lunghi nei maschi); il primo articolo non rivela la presenza di un organo con struttura simile a quella dei ''chaetosemata''. ==Il museo sensibile del teatro romano di Milano==

Aperto al pubblico dal febbraio 2008, consente di visitare le fondamenta del Teatro romano di Milano situate nei sotterranei di [[Palazzo Turati]] presso la Camera di Commercio della città.

==== Torace ====

L'allestimento consente di farsi un'idea precisa dello spazio occupato dalla Milano romana, degli spazi occupati del teatro e delle attività che si conducevano, nonché della tecnica costruttiva (sono conservate le palificazioni per le fondamenta). Un percorso di odori, suoni e immagini consente di "rivivere" l'esperienza dell'antica Roma a Milano.

Il processo ventrale della [[Glossario entomologico#tegula|tegula]] può talora terminare con una punta alquanto acuminata. Non sono presenti [[Glossario entomologico#organi timpanici|organi timpanici]] toracici.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 />

Nell'[[ala degli insetti|ala]] anteriore si può notare la presenza di un'[[Glossario entomologico#areola|areola]] allungata, dal cui apice dipartono le sezioni distali di [[Glossario entomologico#settore radiale|Rs₁]], Rs{{apici e pedici|b=2}}, Rs{{apici e pedici|b=3}} ed Rs{{apici e pedici|b=4}}; nella parte distale dell'areola, sono spesso presenti due [[Glossario entomologico#nervatura|nervature]] trasversali: una prima tra Rs{{apici e pedici|b=1}} ed Rs{{apici e pedici|b=2}}, oltre a una seconda, di solito incompleta o sostituita da una plica, tra [[Glossario entomologico#radio|R]] ed Rs₁. [[Glossario entomologico#media|M₂]] corre più ravvicinata a M₃ che a M₁. [[Glossario entomologico#cubito|CuA₁]] e CuA₂ sono chiaramente separate e distinguibili, mentre manca CuP. [[Glossario entomologico#anale|1A+2A]] mostra una netta biforcazione nella regione basale.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 />

Nell'area archeologica del teatro sono visibili anche alcuni capitelli, probabilmente dell'edificio scenico, porzione di una colonna dell'apparato scenico del muro di frontescena, lo scavo di un pozzo medioevale, un piccolo forno, pali di fondazione originali in legno di rovere, fondamenta dell'edificio. Chiari pannelli esplicativi forniscono informazioni sull'area in cui il teatro fu edificato e spiegano origine e provenienza dei materiali impiegati e genere di spettacoli che si svolsero nel teatro.

Al termine della visita la Camera di Commercio consegna ai visitatori materiali sulla storia del teatro e una breve biografia sulla vicenda umana e professionale di Alda Levi, cui si deve il riconoscimento dell'edificio come il Teatro romano di Mediolanum.

Nell'ala posteriore, provvista di una venulazione decisamente più ridotta, [[Glossario entomologico#subcosta|Sc]] è connessa al margine superiore della [[Glossario entomologico#cellula descale|cellula discale]] tramite una nervatura trasversale, solitamente molto sottile o comunque di lunghezza ridotta. Rs ed M₁ sono unite per un breve tratto, e come nell'ala anteriore, M₂ parte in posizione più ravvicinata a M₃ che a M₁. Manca CuP, mentre 3A è presente e ben definita.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 />

==Settimana del Teatro di Milano==

Dal 3 all'8 maggio si tiene annualmente la settimana dedicata al Teatro Romano che culmina il giorno di San Vittore.

In questa occasione la Camera di Commercio di Milano organizza conferenze, spettacoli, eventi culturali e degustazioni.

Lo stadio adulto è incapace di alimentarsi, non disponendo di un [[Apparato boccale degli insetti|apparato boccale]] funzionale.<ref name = Common90 />

== Distribuzione e habitat ==

Queste [[falena|falene]] sono presenti essenzialmente in [[Oceania]]: la maggior parte delle [[specie]] occupa un [[areale]] compreso nei confini dell'Australia continentale, e solo poche specie sono state rinvenute in [[Tasmania]] e in [[Nuova Guinea]]; fa eccezione la sola ''[[Anthela brunneilinea]]'', che è stata descritta per le [[isole Kai]] ([[Molucche]] orientali, [[Indonesia]]), comunque a poca distanza dalle coste della Nuova Guinea.<ref name = Handbuch /><ref name = Scoble92 /><ref name = Common90 /><ref name = Stehr />
