Tony Terran (b. May 30, 1926, Buffalo, New York) is an American trumpet player and session musician

Regarded as one of the most versatile trumpet players in the music business, Terran has had an impact on the Los Angeles music scene for more than four decades as a specialist of many musical styles. He performed and recorded with many notable artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Perry Como, Linda Ronstadt, Benny Goodman, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Bob Hope, Barbra Streisand, Chicago, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, The Tijuana Brass and The Baja Marimba Band.
Children's BBC and its contraction, CBBC, is the brand for the BBC's children's television output aimed at children over six, across BBC One, BBC Two and the CBBC Channel. It launched on 9 September 1985. CBeebies is the brand used for output aimed at up to 6 year olds.

Terran played on many recordings of television shows and film soundtracks such as I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, The Brady Bunch, I Dream of Jeanie, Happy Days, Popeye, The Carol Burnett Show, Cheers, L.A. Law, The Simpson’s, Star Trek, Rocky I II and III, Karate Kid I, II and III, The Natural, All The Presidents Men, Broadcast News, Field of Dreams, Grease, Officer and a Gentleman, Ghostbusters, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Deep.
Internally, CBBC acts as a microcosm of the rest of the BBC. It produces drama programmes, news, entertainment, educational programmes and contemporary factual output. It is based in the East Tower of the BBC Television Centre, with some output coming from Scotland and Bristol as well. The controller of the division from 2000 to 2003 was Nigel Pickard and June to October 2005 was Alison Sharman, when she left suddenly to join ITV. The new controller of CBBC is Richard Deverell who was appointed in February 2006, the job effectively split in two with Anne Gilchrist as Creative Director, CBBC to oversee the creative side of things. At the same time as this announcement the department was renamed BBC Children's. It was felt that CBBC as a departmental name did not convey the full range of output produced; including CBBC, CBeebies, Online and Interactive services.

He was also a featured soloist for distinguished composers and conductors including Nelson Riddle, John Williams, Patrick Williams, Lalo Schifrin, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, Henry Mancini and John Barry. Terran received the Most Valuable Player Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 1974.
CBBC Presentation produces the wrap-around links for CBBC output. Since April 2006 all CBBC Presentation output on BBC One, BBC Two and the CBBC Channel is broadcast from studio TC9. CBeebies presentation is recorded in TC0. Both TC9 and TC0 are located at BBC Television Centre in London.

Terran was in high school when he started working on live radio shows in Buffalo. In 1944, he arrived in Los Angeles after touring with Horace Heidt. In 1945, he began working with Bob Hope, and then with Desi Arnaz in 1946. His relationship with Arnez helped shape Cuban/Latin music in the United States. Terran had the distinction of playing on the first filmed television sitcom, and playing with some of the first R&B bands to use horns in the early 1950’s.
From launch to 1994, the links were usually broadcast from the NC1 (BBC One) continuity suite, dubbed the Broom Cupboard, kitted out with a set but otherwise operational (the presenter actually operating the console). With the revamp of BBC branding in 1997, Children's BBC output was branded 'CBBC', despite this designation having been in use alongside the formal title since around 1990.

CBBC is aimed at 6-12 year olds. Older kids (13-17 years) will have a "teen" brand TV, Radio1 and broadband based service, expected to start in 2007.
