Yeah, I know this talk page is protected. Yeah, I know you have retired. But you do the best work on Vietnamese articles I can think of, so if you want a project if and when you return, while pounding the "random article" button I came across Vietnamese family and thought maybe you'd be able to work it up a bit. Possibly needs a re-title (Family life in Vietnam?) and a lot of TLC, but when I saw it needed help, I thought I'd throw it your way. Toodles. --<span style="color:#000099;">Jayron</span><span style="color:#009900;">32</span> 01:21, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I engaged in a conversation today, with an Australian Pro Athlete in the track, he represented us in the last commonwealth games. He told me that there is a 3months calendar that they have to fill with their whereabouts. They nominate a couple of places like home, pool etc as A B C D E and then they add that letter on every day at a specific time. Therefore, they nominate EVERY DAY where they will be for at least 1 hour. He said there are three ways of drug testing. 1) By appointment, they call the athlete and ask him to be at a ___location at a future date for the test. 2) During games 3) random with the use of the whereabouts calendar that every athlete submit. The day they tested Ian, they went at the pool, that was one of his nominated places and then they went at his home. He was not there. They waited for an hour. He did not appear. He failed his obligation as a pro athlete. It is a documented fact. It needs to be on the paragraph about his retirement.

Evidence question
Hello, I had a question about the current Naming Conventions case. I was in the process of supplying evidence a couple weeks ago, when my wiki-time was interrupted by the holidays (and the fact that I got stuck in the New Mexico snowstorm for a few days). Upon my return to Wikipedia, I see that the voting phase on the case has already started, before I was able to finish supplying evidence, and before some of the other involved editors had returned from their own holiday break. :/ May I continue with supplying the rest of my evidence? Or would it be too late at this point? I'd posted alerts about my upcoming absence and return on the ArbCom talk pages, such as at Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Naming Conventions/Evidence#Christmas and Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Naming Conventions/Proposed decision#Additional evidence, but I'm not sure if anyone saw them. Thanks for your time, Elonka 19:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
:You can, I am willing to have a look at any extra material you provide. The case may linger for a few more days yet. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:05, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
:: Thanks, I'll do my best to finish up quickly, and let you know when I'm done. :) --Elonka 05:19, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
::: My apologies for my absence. Missouri was under a state of emergency from the recent ice storm (details in my blog). I'll endeavor to get my evidence wrapped up within the day. --Elonka 18:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Again, please accept my apologies for the multiple delays. It's a been a really tough winter so far! I have finished presenting my evidence, as well as a few extra proposed principles and findings of fact on the Workshop page. If you have time, I would appreciate if you could review them. If not though, I understand. To be honest, I feel better just knowing that I was able to complete my section, since its half-finished status was on my mind during the last couple weeks.

For what it's worth, I have no intention of challenging the final ArbCom decision, whichever way it goes. I see ArbCom as a useful part of the Wikipedia Dispute Resolution process. And just as with an AfD or DRV discussion, I may not always agree with the decision of the closing admin, but I will respect it. :)
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return&nbsp;if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. <!-- Template:Inactive admin -->

Despite some of the other comments that have been made about my behavior throughout this process, it is my hope that ultimately it will be clear that I am a longtime hardworking Wikipedian (I think I'm currently on the list as one of the 200 most active editors), that I believe strongly in the project, and that in general I'm not groundzero for various disputes. In this one particular case though, I felt strongly that I had an obligation to speak up. But I will be glad when the matter is finally resolved, as I am very much looking forward to getting back to writing articles! :) Elonka 03:43, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Protection of Wikipedia talk:Esperanza
Barnstar of diligence
At first, I thought your protecting the page was kind of arbitrary given what I thought was simply one edit and a revert. However, when I examined the edit history, it became obvious that the edit warring had been going on for at least a day. I'm now a little bit sorry that I got involved in this since it's clear that emotions are running higher than I realized.

{| style="border: 1px solid gray; background-color: #fdffe7;"
In the long run, however, your protecting the page comes down on the side of those who don't want any more discussion of Esperanza. I would argue that this runs counter to some of the basic spirit of Wikipedia. Thus, I would suggest that, after a reasonable "cooling off" period, you unprotect the page per Wikipedia policy discouraging the protection of pages.

::I certainly don't intend to protect it permanently at all, only to stop the reverting. I had not intended to protect it with the intention of enforcing a discussion shutdown of Esperanza. Thanks for uploading or contributing to :File:Olympic panda.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.<!-- Template:You can request undeletion --> If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. The wiki entry for Ian has a detailed description about his achievements for anti doping. How can you justify to emitting his last professional act as an athlete, that of failing his drug testing obligations?

Kevin O'Halloran (1937–1976) was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1950s, who won a gold medal in the 4&nbsp;&times;&nbsp;200&nbsp;m freestyle relay at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. The first Western Australian to win Olympic gold, O'Halloran learnt to swim in his home town of Katanning. He moved to Perth to attend secondary schooling at Guildford Grammar School, where he began swimming passionately. Competitive swimming was not well developed in Western Australia; races were held in muddy river pools, so in late 1955, O'Halloran moved to the east coast to support his attempt to qualify for the Olympics. His new coach, Frank Guthrie, overhauled his training regimen, and within a year, O'Halloran had reduced his times by approximately 10%. He gained Olympic selection in the relay and the 400&nbsp;m freestyle. O'Halloran led off the Australian quartet on the way to a new world record, before placing sixth in the 400&nbsp;m. Thereafter, O'Halloran's career was beset by ear problems, and he retired in 1958 after failing to qualify for the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. In 1976, O'Halloran died after tripping and accidentally shooting himself. (more...)

Hey there. I'm posting this here since I feel that posting a response on the RFA would be improper. I agree with your concerns that I haven't really gotten "stuck in" with "meaty edits" as you would call them, the main reason for this is that my areas of interest, music and social work articles, tend to be highly contentious. I haven't really been able to find somewhere to get stuck in, though I have been working on a few stubs - Gap loss and some minor work on Guy Marchant for example. However, if you ever want a hand on an article, some copy editing, or just another pair of eyes to look over it, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, ✎ <span style="font-family: Verdana"><font color="#696">Peter M Dodge</font> ( <font color="#696">Talk to Me</font> &bull; <font color="#696">Neutrality Project</font> )</span> 06:50, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

:I don't think posting a response is at all improper. The problem is that I simply don't think you have devoted enough time to it, as most of them were machine edits or semi-automatic stuff done in a quick time. I generally feel that being in a dispute makes you more qualified, as long as you weren't the problem, as there is a big problem on WP these days with interest groups, religious movements, ethnic POV-pushing and that is where it is like the wild west, so we need admins who are willing to probe sticky article situations. I especially liked RfA/Khoikhoi_2 and was not scared off by it and I would do the same for you. Having said that, doing tons and tons of gnome article edits is also OK, but doing what others will not do (I don't mean p[laying politics) in terms of fixing articles will get more weight than things where there is relatively more supply. I guess CWC Advert may find you helpful if you feel you can smooth out prose for Featured Articles. ::I've been in a few, which mostly get aggrivated by the fact that people don't use talk pages when I ask them. One big problem I come across more often though is people will "discuss" the matter by stating the same thing over and over and over ... while avoiding acknowleding my point. I've kind of gotten tired of those kinds of fights, so I try to avoid it if I can help it, but I certainly don't mind copyediting, and as well Ive been trying to expand some stubs, as I noted. I find that expanding stubs tends to be a rather noncontentious way to really get ones hands dirty, so I've been trying that. In either event, my original offer still stands - if you have an article you want me to look over, just ask, and I'll take a hack at it. I can certainly look at the articles you're trying to promote to FA/GA status to see if I can help. Cheers, ✎ <span style="font-family: Verdana"><font color="#696">Peter M Dodge</font> ( <font color="#696">Talk to Me</font> &bull; <font color="#696">Neutrality Project</font> )</span> 07:11, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
::I feel complled to note, as far as Dispute Resolution type stuff goes, Ive been in it quite a bit, I just try to avoid being the cause of the dispute. I try to help out users in such untenable situations, and while it may have gained me some malign, I feel that ultimately the good edits these users make in the end is a net benefit to Wikipedia. Currently I'm trying to help Ilena - and this is proving to be one of the more difficult cases I've taken on, but I try to approach everyone involved with respect, cool, and kindness. That's the kind of approach that diffuses disputes in my opinion, and so I try to do so. I always welcome review and help, of course, should you want to take a look. I definetely don't shirk away from trying to fix bad situations, I just try my best to avoid being the cause. Charlie Macartney (1886–1958) was an Australian cricketer who played in 35 Tests between 1907 and 1926. He was known as The Governor-General in reference to his authoritative batting style and his flamboyant strokeplay, which drew comparisons with his close friend and role model Victor Trumper. Making his Test debut in 1907, his most noteworthy Test contribution in his early career was a match-winning ten wicket haul at Headingley in 1909. It was around this time that Macartney befriended Trumper and began to transform himself into an audacious attacking batsman. The First World War stopped all first-class cricket and Macartney enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force. Upon the resumption of cricket, Macartney stamped himself as one of the leading batsmen in the world with his performances during the 1921 Ashes tour. Macartney produced an Australian record score in England of 345 against Nottinghamshire, which led to him being named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1922. After missing the 1924&ndash;25 series due to mental illness or a recurrence of war injuries, Macartney departed international cricket on the 1926 tour of England. Macartney was posthumously inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2007. (more...)

Greetings and Happy New year! Could you help me with this one? I have been trying to find an admin to remove a copyvio notice. The article was started by the subject's son. The subject died in 1990. The material was taken from the subject's Home Page, which it appears the son has the copyright of, and he is prepared to put it in the public ___domain. I have a long argument with him, during which he twice removed the copyvio notice, but I think he has calmed down. Of course I told him about COI. The discussion is on my talk page, on User talk:Mikeguth and on Talk:Eugene Guth. The article on the Temp page to be put in place is a stub that I wrote and there are no copyvio problems with it. I'll keep a tight watch on the article and the guy. I am, BTW, still thinking about a RfA as you suggested long ago. I'll be in touch on that. --Bduke 01:51, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I have to say that there does seem to be rather a concerted attack on the article from the usual direction. It's quite hard work making sure they remain aware that the article hasn't been abandoned to their predatory attacks, hard work which means the article always gets patches, never proper attention. ::The categories with the largest backlogs are: Social sciences and society (80 articles), Sports and recreation (70 articles), Music (63 articles), Theatre, film and drama (52 articles), and History (41 articles). Please consider reviewing articles within these sections.

::There are currently 13 articles up for reassessment at Good Article Reassessment. Please help out and go to WP:GAR and review an article! Remember that anyone can review articles that are listed under "Community Reassessment" even if another user has already listed their opinion...the more opinions, the better!

* There is currently not much going on at this time but there is a very large backlog. Until the next backlog elimination drive, please help reduce the number of nominations by reviewing articles and helping other reviewers that may need second opinions.

*Thanks to everyone who committed some time to help reduce the nominations backlog during the June-July 2012 backlog elimination drive. Most barnstars have been given out but there are still a few left. Participants that haven't gotten a barnstar yet should get it soon.

;Possible Fall/Winter 2012 Backlog Elimination Drive

*A discussion is currently being held on the WikiProject's talk page on weather another eliminations drive should take place within the next few months as the last one proved to be extremely successful. ; Some Tips About References/Sources

Having references included in articles is one of the most important aspects to a good article, let alone Wikipedia! Without them, no one would ever know what is true and what is false and Wikipedia probably wouldn't be where it is today. So this month, I will talk about how to check for references, how reliable they are, and so on and so forth.

The first thing to do when reviewing an nominee is to do a quick scan of the article. One of the things to look for is if the article has references! If you don't see a list at the bottom of the article page, quick-fail it. For newcomers, quick-failing is failing an article when you spot a problem before actually conducting a full review. If you do find a list of references (and in most cases you will) make sure to look through each and every one. If you want to save some time, use this tool as it will tell you if there are any problematic references in the article you are reviewing.

Next, check the reliability and type of the references/sources. In terms of the type of reference, check to see how many primary and/or secondary sources are included. Primary sources are the ones published by the subject of the article. For example, if the subject of the article has to do with the iPhone 4s and the source is published by Apple, it is considered a primary source. Secondary sources are those not published by the subject of the article (or in close relation to it). Newspapers are examples of secondary sources and considered one of the better types to include in the article (not saying primary sources are bad). If you find that most/all of the references are primary sources, notify the nominator about this issue(s) and place the article on hold once you have completed the review. Only in the event that a secondary source can't be found as a replacement, then the primary source can remain. If there is a good mix of primary and secondary sources, that is perfect and no references need to be changed.

Now, reliability. Forums are generally not considered reliable and some blog's may not be reliable either. Newspapers, most sources published by the subject, some blogs, etc. are considered reliable. If you don't know wether the source is reliable, ask for a second opinion. For more info about how to identify wether a reference is reliable or not, visit this article.

Finally, one of the more basic things to look for is that every statement in the article has at least one reference! The only case that a statement doesn't need a reference is when it is common sense that the statement is defiantly true and/or in the case where the statement can't be challenged, as per what Wikipedia says, "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable published source using an inline citation."

Main page appearance: State of Vietnam referendum, 1955
This is a note to let the main editors of State of Vietnam referendum, 1955 know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on January 3, 2013. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 3, 2013. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 or his delegates Dabomb87, Gimmetoo, and Bencherlite, or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you can change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

<blockquote>
<div style="float: left; margin: 0.5em 0.9em 0.4em 0;"></div>
The State of Vietnam referendum held on 23 October 1955 determined the future form of government of the State of Vietnam, the nation that was to become South Vietnam. It was contested by Prime Minister Ngô Đình Diệm (pictured), who proposed a republic, and former emperor Bảo Đại, the head of state. Diệm won the election, which was widely marred by electoral fraud, with 98.2% of the vote. In the capital Saigon, Diệm was credited with more than 600,000 votes, although only 450,000 people were on the electoral roll. He accumulated tallies in excess of 90% of the registered voters, even in rural regions where opposition groups prevented voting. The referendum was the last phase in the power struggle between Bảo Đại and his prime minister. In the period leading up to the vote, campaigning for Bảo Đại was banned, while Diệm's election campaign used personal attacks against him, including pornographic cartoons and rumours that he was illegitimate. Bảo Đại was attacked by the government-controlled media, and police went door-to-door, warning people of the consequences of failing to vote. After his brother Ngô Đình Nhu successfully rigged the poll, Diệm proclaimed himself president. State of Vietnam referendum, 1955

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
{|{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Recruitment Centre/Shell|introduction=Hello! Now, some of you might be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

*Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with, the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".

*Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
{|{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Recruitment Centre/Shell|introduction=Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right).

If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open.

* Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. This is a note to let the main editors of Le Quang Tung know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on October 16, 2013. The blurb as it stands now is below:

<blockquote>
Lê Quang Tung (1923–63) was the commander of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam Special Forces under the command of Ngô Đình Nhu, brother of South Vietnam's president, Ngô Đình Diệm. During the 1950s, Tung was a high-ranking official in Nhu's Cần Lao, a secret political apparatus which maintained the Ngô family's grip on power. Appointed as commander of the special forces in 1960, his leadership was noted more for repressing dissidents than fighting the Viet Cong insurgents. His most well-known attack was the raid on Xá Lợi pagoda in August&nbsp;1963 in which hundreds died or disappeared. Tung's main military programme was a scheme in which army personnel attempted to infiltrate North Vietnam for intelligence gathering and sabotage. The program was ineffective, with the vast majority of infiltrators being killed or captured. Tung was also reported to be planning an assassination attempt on Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., the U.S. Ambassador to South Vietnam. Following the pagoda raids, America terminated funding to Tung's men because they were used as a political tool rather than against the communists. Along with Diệm and Nhu, Tung was assassinated during the November&nbsp;1963 coup. Le Quang Tung

I finally understood the reasons of your absence and hell, I don't blame you. Wikipedia is a terrible place and extremely addictive at times, especially back in 2009. But this is a totally changed community now and we would stand behind you 100%. If you come back simply to write content, it would be one of the biggest pleasures this project have seen in years. I'm not asking you to come back full time to this headache, but to memorize the good times of your project experience and ponder about making this a part time hobby by providing your irreplaceable knowledge. == GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive ==

{| {{WP:WikiProject Good articles/Shell|introduction=Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days!<br/>

In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00.<br/>

At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge.</br>

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or leave a message on the Backlog Drive talk page. Jack Marsh (1874&nbsp;– 1916) was a first-class cricketer of Australian aboriginal descent whose career was curtailed by continual controversy surrounding the legality of his bowling action. Born into the Bundjalung people at Yulgilbar in New South Wales, he first made an impression as a professional runner before playing club cricket in Sydney. In a trial match against the New South Wales state team in 1900, he dismissed two Test cricketers but was called for throwing; he then bowled with his arm in splints to prove that his action was legitimate. Having topped the bowling averages in the local competition, Marsh was selected to make his debut in the Sheffield Shield. He made an immediate impression and led the first-class bowling averages for the season after three matches. He was no-balled in his second match and then seventeen times in his fourth match, leading to angry crowd demonstrations. Marsh only played in two more first-class matches and he was passed over for selection for Australia because of his action. Regarded as one of the outstanding talents of his era, his lack of opportunities has often been attributed to racial discrimination. Jack Marsh

Hi. I've opened a GAR on the Ahmedabad article for which you are a main contributor. I have concerns that it does not quite meet current GA criteria regarding sourcing and MoS. Following the guidelines at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment, I'm letting you know in case you're interested in helping to resolve the concerns, though you are under no obligation to do anything. == WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive ==

Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!

TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.

If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.

At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.

As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

GA Cup
Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!

As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:

For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.

For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).

The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers.

Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition.

Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges.

Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan.

Hi. You're missed. Meanwhile, we've got an OK for an Ashes-related FA on Main page for Nov 23. As a placeholder (and maybe final too) I've plumped for Bodyline. You're probably not aware that the rules now permit a second run at Main page. We might go for two cricketers or some other fancy thing, and I'm guessing whatever we go for there's a fair chance you helped it to FA, so...

Cloak and Dagger
Heyo, I see that you deleted the original page for Cloak and Dagger secret society. Is there any way that the information on it could be recovered, as it would be very useful for a university project that is currently ongoing. == Fourth Test, 1948 Ashes series scheduled for TFA ==

This is to let you know that the Fourth Test, 1948 Ashes series article has been scheduled as today's featured article for July 22, 2020. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 22, 2020, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.

We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks!

The article :Thập Tháp Di-Đà Temple has been proposed for deletion&#32;because of the following concern:
<blockquote>Unsourced, was not able to find any indication on a search that this is a notable temple.</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> &spades;PMC&spades; (talk) 23:45, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you today for Third Test, 1948 Ashes series, introduced (2009): "This match was most infamous for the controversial omission of the leading England batsman Len Hutton. Also, despite one day's play being washed out and rain being prevalent, it broke a record for the most spectators at a Test match in England, showing how popular the 1948 Australians were."! - We miss you. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:08, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
