Le sue specialità furono fin dall'inizio le scene di sesso interrazziale nelle quali veniva coinvolto insieme a celebri attrici hardpornoattrici di pelle bianca come [[Nina Hartley]], [[Ashlyn Gere]], [[Moana Pozzi]], Chessie Moore, [[Ginger Lynn]] e [[Ilona Staller]]. Dal 1991 si cimenta anche nella regia di film porno nei quali recita ed è apparso in circa 700 film a luci rosse diventando uno degli attori di colore più celebri del settore. Secondo la Adult Film News Web Page, nel 2003, Michaels è stato citato in giudizio dalla [[WWE|World Wrestling Entertainment]] e diffidato dall'utilizzare il suo nome d'arte ritenuto troppo simile a quello del wrestler WWE [[Shawn Michaels]].
