Warner Bros. ha iniziato a provare a riunire vari supereroi DC Comics nei film nel 2002, quando [[Wolfgang Petersen]] doveva dirigere un crossover tra i ''franchise'' cinematografici di ''[[Superman nei film|Superman]]'' e ''[[Batman nei film|Batman]]''. La Warner Bros. è poi riuscita a creare il suo universo condiviso nel 2013 con il film ''[[L'uomo d'acciaio]]'' e con quello del 2016 ''[[Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice]]''. Quest'ultimo è stato seguito da tredici film e dalla prima stagione di ''[[Peacemaker (serie televisiva)|Peacemaker]]'', una serie televisiva di [[HBO Max]] (in seguito rinominata Max).
