Collodi is the town where [[Carlo Collodi|Carlo Lorenzini]], the author of "[[Le straordinarie avventure di Pinocchio|The adventures of Pinocchio"]], was living when he was young, and it's also the reason for his pseudonymous.

The Pinocchio Park is managed by the [[Fondazione nazionale Carlo Collodi|Carlo Collodi National Foundation]], which is also its owner.

== Storia ==

In 1953, during the 70th anniversary since the novel of Pinocchio was first published, the professor [[Rolando Anzilotti|Rolando Anzillotti]] (who was city mayor of Pescia at the time) held a national competition for the realization of a monument of the pupppet. The commission that examined the 165 projects consisted of the painter Gentilini, the sculptors Griselli e Manzù, the art critic Enzo Csrli and the architect Giovani Michelucci.
