Il primo sport ad attirarlo fu il rugby, che praticò alla scuola primaria quando ancora viveva ad [[Auckland]], in Nuova Zelanda, mentre successivamente praticò il [[Football americano|football]] mentre frequentava il liceo. Successivamente, divenuto ormai un attore a tutti gli effetti, decise di accettare incarichi anche nei film che non erano prodotti della WWE.
