Juelz is also known for his words "Ay!" and "Aight!"

LaRon Louis James Sr. (born February 18, 1982), better known by his stage name Juelz Santana, is an American rapper and member of now-defunct hip-hop group, the Diplomats (also known as Dipset). He is best known for his appearances on group cohort Cam'ron's 2002 singles "Oh Boy" and "Hey Ma", which peaked at numbers four and three on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. His guest appearance on Chris Brown's 2005 debut single, "Run It!" peaked atop the chart for five weeks and received triple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His guest performances on Jim Jones and Ron Browz' 2008 single "Pop Champagne", and Lloyd Banks' 2010 single "Beamer, Benz or Bentley" both peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 as well.
He began writing rhymes at the age of 12. Juelz Santana began his music career at the age of 15, in the group Draft Pick. Draft Pick was featured in Seventeen Magazine in 1998. The following year, the group went on to sign with Priority Records, but before an album could be made, Priority dropped the group from its roster. Eventually the members of Draft Pick parted ways.

In December 2018, James was sentenced to 27 months in prison for carrying an unconcealed weapon at an airport. He was released early from prison on August 5, 2020, after serving 19 months of his 27-month sentence.
Juelz meets Cam'Ron
Early life
Juelz continued rapping and in 1999 at age 16 he was discovered by Cam'Ron. Cam'Ron was so impressed after hearing Juelz rap that he gave him a chance to rap a verse on the song "Double Up", which was featured on Cam'Ron's 2000 release Sports, Drugs, Entertainment (S.D.E.) on Untertainment Records. Unfortunately, before Juelz could get into talks with Untertainment and Arista Records, Untertaintment collapsed and Cam'ron was absorbed into Sony, the larger label of which Untertaintment was a part.
James was born in New York City to African-American parents. He was raised in the Sugar Hill, Harlem section of Manhattan and began rapping at the age of five. He cites a live-in Dominican godmother as a strong influence on his early upbringing.

===The Diplomats=Career ==
Beginnings (1994–2001)
At 12, James formed the rap duo, Draftpick, with Malik, a neighborhood friend. The group first gained recognition after several performances around New York City, including Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, where they won two weeks in a row. The two got signed to Priority Records when James was 15 years old. They released one single on the label, "Play Ruff", with Memphis Bleek and Tracey Lee.

In 1998, James was introduced to Cam'ron through his cousin, and shortly thereafter, took on the name Juelz Santana and became a member of his hip hop collective, The Diplomats, alongside Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey. Santana's first collaboration with the group was the Trackmasters remix of "What Means the World to You", followed by the tracks "Double Up" and "All the Chickens", on Cam'ron's second studio album, S.D.E., released on September 19, 2000, through Epic Records.
Juelz and Cam'Ron continued working together along with another Harlem rapper, Jim Jones as a group called The Diplomats. In 2001 Cam'Ron signed with Roc-A-Fella Records through an old friend, Dame Dash. Although most of this album was completed before The Diplomats moved on to Roc-A-Fella, Juelz was featured on many tracks on Cam'ron's album Come Home With Me In 2002 Juelz received more publicity with his featured spot on the songs "Oh Boy" and "Hey Ma" off of Cam'Ron's 2002 release Come Home With Me. In 2003 Juelz went on to release his first solo album From Me To U. It went gold and proved that Juelz had the lyrical prowess to be "What the games been missing", with a CD that appealed to the streets while at the same time showing a more personal and introspective side of Juelz that he does not show on most tracks. Juelz is arguably the most impressive member of the diplomats.

What theFrom GameMe to Us Been(2002–2003) Missing
In 2001, Cam'ron signed to Roc-a-Fella Records and released his third studio album, Come Home with Me, on May 14, 2002, which featured further collaborations with Santana, including "Welcome to New York City", "Hey Ma" and "Oh Boy", which earned Santana his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2003 Grammy Awards.

Cam'ron's signing also led to Santana signing a deal with Roc-a-Fella, under the imprint Diplomat Records. After four mixtapes, the group released their first album on Diplomatic Immunity on March 25, 2003, which debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, selling 92,000 copies in its first week and eventually being certified Gold by the RIAA. Santana caused a minor controversy before the album's release when he described himself as a "young Mohammed Atta" on a leaked version of the track "I Love You", just months after the September 11 attacks. In a retrospective, Complex named the album one of the classic albums of the decade.
In late 2005 Juelz released What the Game's Been Missing!. Unlike his debut, this album was greeted with rave reviews and an impressive first week sales figures. The album's success was propelled by the singles "There It Go (The Whistle Song)","Mic Check", and "Clockwork". To date the album has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

On August 19, 2003, Santana released his debut album, From Me to U, which peaked at number 8 in the Billboard 200. The album was preceded by the mixtape, Final Destination, released on June 17, 2003, and the single "Dipset (Santana's Town)", which peaked at number 70 on the Billboard Top 100, received a nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 46th Grammy Awards.
I Can't Feel My Face
On Jan. 29 Santana revealed details about the upcoming album with Cash Money Records' star artist, Lil' Wayne. The collaboration, titled I Can't Feel My Face, is finished, according to Santana said that a recently leaked mixtape was just a taste of what he had in store with Lil Wayne "That's done, everybody who thinks that not happening, we did a mixtape, and the mixtape leaked," Santana told AllHipHop.com. "We did the tour together and we got over 40 records, so that's definitely going down."
Santana said the two would select the best of the songs they recorded to produce I Can't Feel My Face, which is due in stores this year.

What the Game's Been Missing! (2004–2006)
"It's something that's never been done before, a dude from the north and a dude from the south, especially with the south being so hot, and me being one of the hottest dudes in the north," Santana boasted. "We just gonna let the music talk. Me and Weezy just put out a single 'Black Republicans.' We Black Democrats running those Black Republicans out of office." The song is an obvious shot at Def Jam President Jay-Z. Juelz states "the Rock of Gibraltar is now falling," referring to the "Diamonds from Sierra Leone (remix)" where Jay-Z raps "How could you falter when you're the Rock of Gibraltar?" Juelz later says "This is not a diss song either, people. We don't diss them we dismiss them." This refers to "Lost One" from Kingdom Come when Jay-Z states in the intro, "It's not a diss song. It's just a real song."

The group released their second album, Diplomatic Immunity 2, on November 23, 2004, with new members Hell Rell, 40 Cal., and J. R. Writer.

On December 23, 2004, Santana released "Mic Check", the lead single from his sophomore album. The single peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.
