Sal initially served as a legislative analyst with the [[Centers for Disease Control|CDC]] National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, where he was primarily responsible for managing legislative authorities. In this role, he worked collaboratively with both departmental partners, private partners, and non-profit partners to maintain and expand and programmatic authority on a variety of issues including cancer screening, obesity, cardiovascular screening, infant health, and aging.
