Miami's preteen R&B singer Sammie Bush was exposed to music even before he was born. His mother, a former professional singer, sang in the church choir while she was carrying him. Fittingly, Sammie's first singing triumph also occurred at church; at age four, he received a standing ovation for his performance of "Troubles Don't Last Always." Music was never far from Sammie's mind, even at school; teachers would catch him singing under his breath during classes, but encouraged his talent. Eventually, a music teacher from Charles Drew Elementary, a nearby magnet school with a special performing arts program, heard of Sammie's vocal gifts and he transferred there at the start of third grade. Soon after, he formed a vocal group, the Wonder 3, with two junior high boys. Sammie's music teacher was so impressed with their performances that she sent a videotape of them to the television program Showtime at the Apollo, which led to an audition for the group and a 1998 solo performance for Sammie. Ultimately winning the show's finals, Sammie and his mother were contacted by Joyce Irby, an agent connected to Atlanta-based producer/songwriter Dallas Austin, who has worked with Monica and Another Bad Creation.
Career Beginnings
Austin brought Sammie to his studios for some demos and almost a year later, had him return to record his debut album, From the Bottom to the Top, which was released in early 2000 by Capitol Records. His first single, "I Like It" became a top ten R&B hit and a Top 40 pop hit. His album soon hit platinum status. He followed hit up with the Top 40 R&B/Pop crossover, "Crazy Things I Do." In 2002, he was featured on the song "Hardball" with Lil Bow Wow, Lil' Zane and Lil' Wayne.

In 2008, Sammie was featured on Soulja Boy's hit single "Kiss Me thru the Phone", which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Also in 2008, he released the single “One Way Street.” In 2012, he co-wrote the song "Next Breath" for singer Tank's fifth studio album, This Is How I Feel. Also in 2012, Sammie released his mixtape “Insomnia,” followed by “The Leigh Bush Project” EP in 2013.
Career Development
He left the game to go on to graduate from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida in 2005. A year later, Austin signed him to his reactivated Rowdy label and released his self-titled album. The album's first single, You Should Be My Girl hit the charts and became a Top 30 R&B hit. The album hit the Top 45 of the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart. - Heather Phares, All Music Guide. She hates Music.
2016–present: Indigo, Coming of Age, Everlasting & Verzuz
In January 2016, Sammie released his retail mixtape, Indigo via his own imprint StarCamp Music. His third album, Coming of Age was released in September 2017. His fourth album Everlasting was released in March 2019. In June 2019, Sammie embarked on “The Everlasting Tour” performing in intimate settings, giving his fans an up close experience. Sammie later dropped an EP called “Send Nudes” in December 2019. He also is in the lineup for The Millennium Tour 2020, joining headliner Omarion, Bow Wow, Pretty Ricky, Soulja Boy, Lloyd, Ashanti, and The Ying Yang Twins. In June 2020, he released his fifth album, "Such Is Life".

In June 2022, Sammie participated in the musical web series Verzuz, where he shared the stage with his teammate Pleasure P, and opponents Bobby V and Ray J. Their performances went viral over social media after a string of mishaps on stage, but Sammie was favored by viewers who deemed him a 'winner' out of all the participants in their match. This led him to go on a series of boasts on Instagram, where he was challenged by his teammate and opponents. This then led to many live streaming chats where the men discussed their flaws and success and eventually led to an idea to develop and form a supergroup named R.S.V.P. The group currently is in production stages and is working on releasing on EP later this year.
