Grey Glacier is a glacier in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, just west of the Cordillera del Paine. It flows southward into the lake of the same name. Before dividing in two at its front end, the glacier is 6 kilometers wide and over 30 meters high. In 1996, it occupied a total area of 270 km2 and a length of 28 km. In November 2017 a large iceberg broke off the glacier.
Surroundings
The Glacier is in the south end of the Southern Patagonia Ice Field. Indeed, you can see the surface of it when you do the big circuit of Paine Mountain Range at John Garner Pass. There is a great view of the glacier from the south shore of the Lake where you can see the glacier in the background and thousands of floating ices to the shore. (Depending on the season.) It is located to the west side of the Torres del Paine National Park. There is a very nice Hostería in the shore of Lago Grey and paths to walk and see beatiful landscapes.

Activities
clear
Ice walk is a typical activity in the Glacier. This can be done through travel agencies who specializes in that activity. You can also sail by the lake and almost touch the side walls of the Glacier aboard Grey II a shuttle operated by Hostería Lago Grey. Those who love kayaking would enjoy themselves a lot rowing among the ices.
