'''Madeline Margaret Genevieve Miranda Catherine Fitzpatrick''' (born [[March]], [[1990]]), more commonly known as '''Maddie''', is a fictional character on the [[Disney Channel]] sitcom ''[[The Suite Life of Zack & Cody]]''. ==Background==

Maddie is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in a rundown apartment building in [[Boston, Massachusetts]] across the street from [[Fenway Park]]. She works as the candy counter girl at the Tipton Hotel, though she isn't paid much. (She doesn't get paid overtime<ref>[[The Suite Life of Zack and Cody]] episode ''[[The Ghost of 613]]''</ref> and only makes $6.00 an hour.<ref>[[The Suite Life of Zack and Cody]] episode ''[[Hotel Inspector]]''</ref>) She also works as the Tipton's temporary day care worker.

She is passionate, quite intelligent and dresses casually, often in her Catholic school's uniform. Most of the time Maddie wears her Tipton Hotel uniform with a touch of her father's Irving's necktie. Maddie has been known to be very sarcastic. She is middle-class, the exact opposite of her best friend, [[London Tipton]]. Maddie is sometimes bribed and treated as a servant by London, but she still values their friendship. She is often very cynical and doubtful at times. Maddie also works at the Cluck Bucket, although she is only seen there in one episode.

Maddie often babysits the twins for Carrie. Zack has a big crush on Maddie, and often calls her "sweet thang". Maddie alternately ignores, is annoyed or amused by the crush (occasionally, if she wants something from Zack, she is not above exploiting it.) She does care about Zack and does not want to hurt him. Zack himself pointed out that, given the passage of several years, a three-year-age difference would not be a serious impediment to a relationship between them. Maddie promised to dance with Zack at his [[prom]]; given that their ages will be closer at that point, it is an open question what will occur if neither has found a romantic partner.

She is a strong supporter of environmental causes and she has dreamed of going to Paris, ever since she planned to go there for her parents' 25th anniversary. She wants to go to law school. London's present step-mom, Brandi Tipton,<ref>[[The Suite Life of Zack and Cody]] episode ''[[What the Hey?]]''</ref> seems to love Maddie and doesn't mind when Maddie calls her "mom", though London refuses to.

She is friends with [[Raven Baxter]] from ''[[That's So Raven]]'' and [[Miley Stewart (Hannah Montana)|Hannah Montana]] (from ''[[Hannah Montana (TV series)|Hannah Montana]]'').

Her outfit is different from the one in the first few episodes, which is gold in coloring.

Maddie has had many crushes.

*Zack has a crush on Maddie, she does promise to dance with Zack at his prom in ''[[A Prom Story]]''.

*In ''[[Hotel Hangout]]'', she dated Lance, the Tipton's pool lifeguard, but soon dumps him because of his obsession with water.

*In ''[[Maddie Checks In]]'', she dated a rich boy named Jason, but he is never mentioned again.

*In ''[[A Prom Story]]'', she had a crush on a senior named Jeff, who thinks of her as just a little kid.

*In ''[[Rumors (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody episode)|Rumors]]'', Chuck is her second boyfriend, but broke up with Maddie because of the nasty rumor London spread about Maddie and Lance getting back together.

*In ''[[Big Hair & Baseball]]'', Maddie goes on a date with a boy named Gavin, who has a tendency to sweat when he is nervous. The date went well, but he is never mentioned again.

*In ''[[Odd Couples]]'', Trevor (played by [[Zac Efron]]), a visiting merit scholar, seems to like her since they were seen kissing at the end of the episode (although they both said they hated each other), but he is never mentioned again.

*In ''[[Twins at the Tipton]]'', she likes a boy named Kirk but ended up having to go out with his rude nerdy brother because Kirk said he was smart. She thought he would be as cute as his brother, so she chose him before she saw him. The brothers turned out to be fraternal twins.

*In ''[[Ah! Wilderness!]]'', she goes out with London's ex-boyfriend but it causes a rift between the two.

* Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick's faces are never seen but they are always arguing. However, in ''[[Not So Suite 16]]'', silhouettes of them can be seen behind frosted glass.

* She also has a brother named Liam (nicknamed "Booger") who appears only in ''[[Not So Suite 16]]'' although his antics are seen off-camera in ''[[Day Care (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody episode)|Day Care]]''. He is obnoxious, loudmouthed, and in his Oregon grandmother's words, "a dork".
