Added a link to an external website (of which I am affiliated) and the link was removed by another user. Request that this be approved for reinclusion in this article. Link points to a highly relevant site whose theme is Tornado Warning systems and phone service. This site provides viewers with additional information not found in the article and not easily reproduced within the article. I checked Wikipedia guidelines and these do allow links to commercial web pages if they meet certain criteria including relevance. The link appeared as the following and is the only occurrence of this link in Wikipedia:

Tornado emergency was introduced by the local NWS office in Norman, OK on 3 May 1999, to heighten awareness in an area saturated with severe weather coverage and to differentiate an impending disaster of a large tornado striking a heavily populated area. It was done on the spot and informally, and is *not* an official product, so it is not a different product.
From a NWS perspective, it *is* essentially a high end tornado warning, a special kind of warning with a special call-to-action statement, intended to be reserved for only when the warning meteorologist feels that a destructive tornado is about to impact a large population. They are issued in initial [http://www.weather.gov/glossary/index.php?word=Tornado+Warning tornado warnings], as well as subsequent [http://www.weather.gov/glossary/index.php?word=Severe+Weather+Statement severe weather statements]. They're somewhat analogous to [http://www.weather.gov/glossary/index.php?word=PDS+Watch Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS)] [http://www.weather.gov/glossary/index.php?word=Tornado+Watch tornado watches], though those are official products with standardized guidelines. Again, however, there are no standardized guidelines for "tornado emergencies", it's completely up to the forecaster's discretion. Tornado emergencies have been issued where there have been no towns hit, when it wasn't certain a town would be hit, for smaller towns, and a few times even when there are only strong radar signatures and nothing confirmed (the latter occurred in the Southeast where tornadoes are very difficult to see and often few sighting reports - i.e. tornado itself, not damage - are received, especially at night), although there is some movement to more control issuance of tornado emergencies.
Tornado emergencies, in some areas, do elicit special action by emergency responders. They may initiate response to a disaster and mass casualty incident before it occurs, however, this to, varies by area and respective organization. It is also their prerogative, there are not set responses like there are in the example of tornado warnings (such as EAS activation, enactment of codified responses, and public facilities sending occupants to shelter). Merge "Tornado Emergency" into "Tornado Warning." This artice is redundant. There is no such thing as "Hurricane Emergency" or "Severe Thunderstorm Emergency" so why should there even be a separate article entitled "Tornado Emergency"? Just because some forecasters wisely used this term during a tornado event, this term has not officially replaced "Tornado Warning" as a form of tornado alert.
If anyone can find out what warning header the [http://www.nws.noaa.gov National Weather Service] issues the warning under, then this problem is easily resolved. If the header is the same, it is a tornado warning. If the header is not the same, then it can be considered a seperate National Weather Service product.

* I don't see how this is any different than having an article on [[National Weather Service bulletin for New Orleans region]]. As shown above, tornado emergencies aren't tornado warnings, they're independent statements issued only in extreme circumstances. The fact that they are always accompanied by tornado warnings doesn't mean a seperate article isn't warranted. Indeed, the [[National Weather Service bulletin for New Orleans region]] could be merged into a Hurricane Warning article, but the severity of the situation, the notability of the event, and the unusual, vivid wording of the statement justify having the article on it--just as having the tornado emergency article does.

:First, I sincerely apologize if I'm doing this wrong. I'm new to Wikipedia and struggling to figure out the tech side of how things work around here. I'm chiming in on this older comment with a related query. I do understand the need to avoid a violation of [[WP:HOWTO]] and absolutely agree with the policy. That would be a dangerous road. However, it seems like some very basic information is missing from this page, if not this specific section. I know that the NWS has statements explaining what it means when a tornado siren goes off. We have nothing here explaining that or at least directing people to the right agency for that information. Is it possible, without causing a violation of [[WP:HOWTO]], to at least define what the siren blasts mean? For example, perhaps it could be stated that the NWS instructs local officials to activate their sirens for a Tornado Warning, that the sirens continue for a certain amount of time (how long?), and that they resume to signal an "All Clear" when the danger is past. Additionally, communities generally test their sirens at a set time each month for a certain amount of time (e.g., the first Wednesday of each month at noon for 60 seconds). That seems like fairly basic information explaining the usage of the sirens and is not actually giving instructions to people about how they should respond. My inquiry is prompted by having overheard someone, newly arrived in the Midwestern U.S. from New England, complaining that "fog horns" had sounded twice, waking them during a bad thunderstorm. Ref my latest [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tornado_warning&diff=1019542240&oldid=1018597850 change]: while the notion that the ban on using the word "tornado" was instituted because businessmen felt it would endanger potential investments is rather sweet, I wanted to verify whether this was indeed the reasoning. The ban on tornado forecasts is frequently discussed in academic sources, but I could not find any suggesting that it had to do with business investment.
