If there is general [[consensus]] for deletion, an administrator will carry it out, and the link will be removed from this page (it will show up in the [[Wikipedia:deletion log|deletion log]]). If no consensus can be reached, someone will remove the link from this page, and the page will not be deleted.

== Decisions in progress ==
Page titles should stay listed for a minimum of '''7 days''' before a decision is made. Note that obvious junk can be removed by admins at any time - see [[wikipedia:deletion policy|deletion policy]] for details.

Note that listings more than five days old should now be moved to [[Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Old]].
Please consider adding a [[Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Listed_for_deletion_notice|deletion notice]] like the following on top of pages that are scheduled for deletion:
=== May 23 ===
:<nowiki>''This page has been listed on [[Wikipedia:Votes for deletion]]. Please see that page for justifications and discussion.''</nowiki>
====[[Kimberley Katherine Smith]]====
You may also choose to inform the author of the page about the ongoing discussion on their [[Wikipedia:talk page|user talk page]]. The notice does not need to be added to pages which a) have no content (such as redirects), and b) also have no significant history.

*[[George Fruits]]. Does this person deserve an article? It was created by someone named [[User:Fruits]], which makes me think it's his/her ancestor. [[User:RickK|RickK]] 03:01, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=MediaWiki:VfD-Kyb_IE_GetEmAll&action=edit add to this deletion debate]
**If George Fruits truly lived until 114 in the 19th Century, that's remarkable enough to justify an article (IMO). However, it does raise the probability of the article being nonsense. -- [[User:Hike395|hike395]] 03:13, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Fruits did not make the list at [[centenarian]]. Considering 114 would qualify him for supercentenarian status and they are so rare, it is unlikely that he is an actual supercentenarian. I would, however, vote not to bin the article until further research supports this. --[[User:Ed Cormany|Ed Cormany]] 03:41, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Unless it's faked, there's a photo of George's headstone at [http://www.geocities.com/sdf1778/fruigeor.html http://www.geocities.com/sdf1778/fruigeor.html] which substantiates the claim as to his age. [[User:RickK|RickK]] 03:52, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**I'm going to withdraw my objections. Some Googling shows him in several places, and he apparently showed up in the Guiness Book of Records. The last survivor of the American Revolution rates an article. [[User:RickK|RickK]] 04:04, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**For your information, the person most often named as the last veteran of the [[American Revolutionary War]] is [[Daniel F. Bakeman]]. I can't find any article mentioning both Fruits and Bakeman, which I find suspicious. In any case I oppose mentioning either of them at the [[centenarian]] article, as it should be reserved for people who gained fame for a reason other than because they became a centenarian. [[User:213.73.161.245|213.73.161.245]] 04:21, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**This is easy to check. Death dates of possible candidate last veteran of American Revolutionary War:
***Daniel F. Bakeman --- April 5, 1867
***John Gray --- March 29, 1868
***George Fruits --- August 6, 1876
**So, it looks like Mr. Fruits has the others beat. Your opposition to Mr. Fruits in the [[centenarian]] list is not consistent with others on the list (e.g., [[Margaret Booth]]). Let's take this discussion to [[Talk:centenarian]]. -- [[User:Hike395|hike395]] 05:01, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Most places seem to indicate Daniel F. Bakemen was the last Revolutionary War veteran. This site [http://17762.tripod.com/fruigeor.html], "There was always some controversy that I heard (hearsay) that the George Fruits in Bunker Hill Cemetery is the son of George Fruit." I don't know exactly what to make of this make of this. Oldest ____ always seems to be a hard thing to prove. [[User:M123|M123]] 08:29, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)

* [[User talk:Nostrum/ban]] -- This is completely unnessary, this user is clearly not a vandal. [[User:Mbecker|&#12510;&#12452;&#12459;&#12523; (MB)]] 19:36, Aug 14, 2003 (UTC)
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=MediaWiki:VfD-AberSeeSaw&action=edit add to this deletion debate]
**Had Nostrum been an anonymous IP addresses persistently adding that illiterate POV rant to Catholicism he would have been banned without hesitation. Anonymous IP addresses get banned everyday for similar conduct. Not only did his conduct on the Catholicism page warrant a ban, his recent defacement of the Holocaust article after his reappearance warranted a ban in itself, even without considering his past obnoxious behavior. I favor a ban and most of the literate users who endured the torment of reading his fourth grade-level, bigoted anti-Catholic garbage probably agree with a ban, or at least agree that his conduct needs to be monitored. I favor a ban and I will not have my stance on Nostrum censored. [[User:172|172]] 00:34, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC
**Keep. Wheather a user is a vandal should be discussed on the ban page, not here. [[User:Efghij|Efghij]] 02:21, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**To 172: "censored"? That's just a bit rich after you removed a comment by Nostrum on a page discussing his own banning. Please reform your ways. -- Cimon Avaro on a pogostick
***Shame on you for slandering me! I didn't intentionally delete anything that vandal said; it might have just been an edit conflict. I have no reason to hide his inane drivel. Quit budding in every time you find a dispute and coming to ill-informed conclusions. [[User:172|172]] 03:22, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
****'''I cordially request you do not allege that I have slandered you'''. If one peruses the page history, there is not the slightest possibility that the removal of the text by Nostrum was due to an "edit conflict". If you say that you ''did remove'' the text by some form of unintentional action, I would find no grounds to dispute that, but I would still feel bound to admonish you to '''not do it again!!!''' -- [[User:Cimon avaro|Cimon Avaro on a pogo-stick]] 05:14, Aug 15, 2003 (UTC)
**<s>It is patiently absurd to have this page is listed here. This user has done nothing but vandalise every page he has touched, writing in such nonsense as that [[Pat Robertson]]'s penis is small, Mormons are Catholics, etc. People have been banned for less and all the evidence is that this is another kooky vandal. There is a lot of support for his banning on the page. For MB to try to get the page deleted is a gross abuse of ''this'' page, which should be about dealing with vandalism, not protecting vandals. [[User:Jtdirl|FearÉIREANN]] 03:28, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)</s>
** After assurances from MB who knows Nostrum off wiki that this is a serious but so far misguided user, I am withdrawing my opposition to the deletion of this page. [[User:Jtdirl|FearÉIREANN]] 03:02, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)

====[[Ben Wilson]]====
* [[Love-Hate relationship]] - the article makes very little sense and has no real info to offer
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=MediaWiki:VfD-BenWilson&action=edit add to this deletion debate]
** This is poorly written and more of an essay than an encyclopedia article. I am not saying it is impossible, but I am hard-pressed to see how any article on this subject could be an encyclopedia article rather than a dictionary definition. Perhaps famous or infamous love-hate relationships (such as in [[Krazy Kat]]?) throughout history could be mentioned. I am leaning towards voting for deletion. --[[User:Daniel C. Boyer|Daniel C. Boyer]] 14:22, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**It's a real phenomenon. Like Larry's essays, well, it needs work to save. There should be *something* by this title. But maybe not this. [[User:EntmootsOfTrolls|EofT]]

{{tl|VfD-BenWilson}}
*[[Shit sandwich]] and [[HUA quotient]] - I don't think these articles add much to the sum of human knowlege. [[User:Mintguy|Mintguy]] 16:29, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Without considerable expansion or revision, which I am at a loss to see how it would happen, the former should be gone. --[[User:Daniel C. Boyer|Daniel C. Boyer]] 17:26, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
***I don't know, I've heard this typically southern expression all my life. It might be better off as a wikidictionary entry rather than an encyclopedia article.[[User:Ark30inf|Ark30inf]] 17:34, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
****No, it's clear that Wikipedia, not Wiktionary, must function as the [[idiom dictionary]]. There are thousands of such expressions and almost all need much more explanation than a conventional dictionary should offer: culture, history, etc. For instance the fact that it's a US South and military expression should be mentioned in the article. [[User:EntmootsOfTrolls|EofT]]
**I'm against deletion. We aren't here to "add to the sum of human knowledge", but perhaps, we can save some poor bastard who only barely speaks English or has only recently moved to the US South, from a few hours of anxiety between the time his colleagues tell him that the boss will "feed him a shit sandwich" in an upcoming meeting, and that meeting. If we move this, let's move it to [http://simple.wikipedia.com Simple English Wikipedia], where maybe simple idioms can be explained more justifiably than here. [[User:EntmootsOfTrolls|EofT]]
**Leave 'em. -- [[User:Infrogmation|Infrogmation]] 19:41, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**The [[shit sandwich]] article has been expanded into something resembling a real article, keep it. --[[User:Dante Alighieri|Dante Alighieri]] 19:42, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
***Upon further reflection, I think that [[shit sandwich]], [[cluster fuck]], [[SNAFU]] and the like should be combined into a new article ([[U.S. military slang terms]] perhaps) which can deal with the phenomenon on a larger scale. Some sociologist out there must be interested in this sort of terminology. --[[User:Dante Alighieri|Dante Alighieri]] 20:18, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**I'd say move to Wiktionary. Etymology, regional usage, and so on of both words and phrases are all the proper ___domain of a dictionray, not an encyclopedia. More general sociological articles like [[U.S. military slang terms]] would be okay of course, but ones like this really don't belong in an encyclopedia. --[[User:Delirium|Delirium]] 00:43, Aug 22, 2003 (UTC)

====[[Metarmorphosis]]====
* [[16 words]] nonsensical detail aspect of the [[Iraq disarmament crisis]] article. --[[User:Stevertigo|<strong>&#25140;&#30505sv</Strong>]] 22:27, Aug 15, 2003 (UTC)
[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=MediaWiki:VfD-Metarmorphosis&action=edit add to this deletion debate]
** OK, I admit, the detail was too small to create an extra article. Probably in America this was not so much in the news as it was in Europe. But the reason for a war to be called "nonsensical", I have a different opinion on that. Just delete it, if this is the general opinion, I will not oppose. History will tell... [[User:Fantasy|Fantasy]] 22:43, 15 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** Delete [[User:Ark30inf|Ark30inf]] 08:30, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Keep. It is a historic concept. A famous [[casus belli]] already becoming a catchphrase. [[Where's the beef?]] anyone? -- Cimon Avaro on a pogostick
**The detail is too small for its own article. I recommend adding any relevant information to a related article and then deleting "16 words" or changing it to a redirect. [[User:M123|M123]] 09:52, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)
***Make it a redirect. [[User:Wshun|wshun]] 23:34, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**One las comment: The Google Search ("16 words" Bush) gives as result about 17.000 pages. Is this relevant to Wikipedia or not? A redirect will (I guess) not show up on Google, so it seems, we are not covering this aspect. Even CNN hat the headline: "CNN.com - Bush's 16 words still hotly debated - Jul. 20, 2003". I let you decide. [[User:Fantasy|Fantasy]] 08:07, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
***Regardless of how things turn out, the phrase is going to increase in prominence and significance, and the debates centered on it will continue. I would say keep. -- Cimon Avaro on a pogostick
****I think that "increase in prominence and significance" is unrealistic since the phrase was popular for about a week in the news media about a month ago and has since seemed to disapear. It will probably never be as popular as "where's the beef?". Also calling it a 'casus belli' is being overly dramatic since the phrase was almost unnoticed until months after it was uttered. [[User:M123|M123]] 16:18, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** It's become a fairly noted term... there should be '''something''' there, but it can be either an article or a redirect, as far as I'm concerned. -- [[User:Jakenelson|Jake]] 02:10, 2003 Aug 20 (UTC)

** Keep for transparency. Consider refactoring. Consider moving related material here. [[User:MyRedDice|Martin]] 19:53, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)
***Delete it, but preserve the contents. It would be best to add it to the administrators' page, where it all was placed originally, and then save a new version of the article so that it cannot be viewed on the current main page. Let it stay in the page history of the administrators' page, where it belonged in the first place. If anyone wanted to refer to it, it would be in the page history. If MB, the major antagonist in effort to have my sysop status revoked, deems it unnecessary, this should be a sign that the matter has been put to rest. [[User:172|172]] 00:13, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** Keep for transparency (somewhere, but visible). [[User:Fantasy|Fantasy]] 08:37, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**Every word is now saved in votes for administrator page history, along with all other debates on the administratorship of every other sysop. I copied the current version of the 172 page and added it to the votes for admin page, and then reverted that edit. Thus, the contents of the 172 page remain in the page history, but are not posted on the current version of the page. :While much of this stuff may be redundant to [[Deep England]], a page that may have POV issues itself, I don't think it's irreformable. It sounds to me like a myth not unlike [[Arcadia]], and it may be related to the "despise of court, praise of village" which is one of the important themes in 16-17th century literature. **[[2000s music groups]] - content was blanked 4 months ago but never listed here for some reason. Pre-blanking content is mostly factually inaccurate, as most of the bands on the list had the peak of their popularity much earlier than the 2000s.
**[[2199]] - used to have some possibly inaccurate information that the Matrix occured in this year, now blank.
**[[Amsicora]] - was a very long essay in Italian before being blanked 5 months ago.
**[[Application generator]] - was a possible copyvio from a Perl book before being blanked by its creator.
**[[Aram-Damascus]] - blanked a while ago, original article was POV and nearly incomprehensible. If this should exist at all, should be rewritten and probably appear under a different title.
**[[:Image:5th annual.PNG]] - orphaned and quite possibly copyvio image.
**[[Bandai]] and [[:Image:Bandai.PNG]] - article blanked by creator; associated image now orphaned.

**[[C. Thomas Howell]] - blanked; no real history.
**[[Central Park jogger]] - Has gone through a series of sub-stub articles, each of which has been blanked. Perhaps it should get an article at some point, but not a blank one or a redirect to a non-existent article.
**[[Cerro de las Campanas]] - content before blanking was nearly incomprehensible, and doesn't appear closely related to what google returns on the subject.
**[[Cghene]] - blanked by [[User:Zoe]] for copyvio 3 months ago, but apparently never listed here.
**[[Clogging]] - was something from [[biodiesel]] highlighting the word "clogging" in its dictionary-definition sense.
**[[Colorado State University]] - blanked by [[User:Frecklefoot]] 6 days ago for copyvio, who didn't put up a notice or list it here.
*** boilerplate text added (a little late ;-))
**[[Degeneration X]] - blanked by creator; text was possibly copyvio.
**[[Ethnic culture and intelligence]] - was blanked by [[User:Slrubenstein]] as unencyclopedic and nonsensical, but he neglected to list it here. (see talk for more)
**[[Extradition of the former President Alberto Fujimori]] - blanked by [[User:Jtdirl]] as primary source material, but not listed here apparently.
**[[Gaia theory predecessors]] - part of the whole Gaia theory brouhaha. Needs to either redirect somewhere or be deleted.
**[[:Image:Gameboy light 0.PNG]] - orphaned image, originally from [[Game Boy Light]]. Doesn't seem necessary to include in [[Game Boy]], and possibly a copyvio (though fair use may be arguable).
**[[Giovanni Maria Angioy]] - before blanking, was a possibly-copyvio biography in Italian.
**[[Griddle]] - content before blanking was a dictionary definition.
***Redirect to [[cookware]] and add info on griddles to the article? --[[User:Dante Alighieri|Dante Alighieri]] 08:45, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**[[Hartfield, New Brunswick]] - pre-blanking content was actually about [[Hartland, New Brunswick]] -- does anyone know if this is another name for the same town?
**[[Hindu literature]] - content has been manually moved to [[Hindi literature]], and a redirect isn't appropriate because Hindu literature would presumably not be synonymous with literature in the Hindi language.
**[[Human translation]] - orphaned; pre-blanking content was something vague about how [[machine translation]] isn't perfect yet, so humans are still needed.
**[[Islamic Museum]] - originally had content now at [[Museum of Islamic Ceramics]], but ''Islamic Museum'' doesn't appear to be an alternate name used for that museum so I don't think a redirect is appropriate.
**[[Jmccann]] - a 2-year-old user page in the main namespace, blanked by [[User:Cimon avaro]] 2 months ago.
**[[Joseph Kasavubu]] - pre-blanking content was something in French; blanked by [[User:Salsa Shark]] 5 months ago

**[[Kaiser Wilhelm IV]] - created and subsequently blanked within a minute by [[User:172]]. Pre-blanking content consisted of redirects first to someone who's apparently not the same person, and then to a non-existent article.
**[[Keshavianistic political pluralism]] - blanked by [[User:JohnOwens]] 3 months ago as "more Keshavianistic nonsense".
**[[List of Sinitic era names by nationality]] - was blanked as making no sense; comments on the talk page indicate [[User:Roadrunner]] and [[User:TakuyaMurata]] intended to vote it for deletion.
**[[List of visual artists]] - Started by [[User:Daniel C. Boyer]] with himself as the sole artist in the list. Other edits have added one artist and subsequently been blanked; it's never been a real list.
**[[Madame Guyon]] - pre-blanking article has copyright issues (freely distributable, but not clear if freely modifiable). See talk page for attempts to contact the author to ask for permission (perhaps we should hold for a reply, if a valid email address is found, before deleting).
**[[Ontologial capital]] - apart from the misspelling, blanked by [[User:Enchanter]] with comment: ''"ontological capital" is not a generally recognised concept.''
**[[Palo Verde]] - history contained only [[:Image:Palo verde111.jpg]] with no text, which is a possible copyvio (and has an ugly huge copyright notice on it in any case). Blanked by creator (who also uploaded the image).
**[[Plant physiology]] - was a term-paper dump before being blanked some months ago by [[User:Nate Silva]].
**[[Remington Rand 490]] - content moved to [[Remington Rand 409]]; there is apparently no such thing as a 490.
**[[Ruse Region]] - used to redirect to the capital of the region, [[Ruse]], but there apparently has never been an article about the region itself.
**[[The fight at Finnburg]] - primary source material blanked by [[User:Kosebamse]] some months ago.
**[[Tohe]] - blanked as nonsense by [[User:JohnOwens]] some months ago.

*** Not to cause trouble, but currently [[Peter Danielson]] and [[Lennox Danielson]] are only linked to by this page, and will be orphaned, should this discussion cease. *** LDan - I believe that the Wikipedia [[Wikipedia:Deletion policy|Deletion policy]] would seem to indicate that this page should be listed on VfD. Under the section "What to list on VfD" the first point says "list stubs that you believe will never become more than a simple definition". Currently the [[All The Small Things]] article is quite a simple definition, and the information it contains (bar the month of release) can be found on the appropriate album page, [[Enema of the State]]. ****I have to agree with LittleDan - even if someone would write an entry for each Pokémon (I'm not sure how many there are; more than 151, definitely, but I think it's less than 300), it wouldn't really make a difference. The database is already pretty sizeable (106 megs just for the cur table currently, and that's [[bzip2]] compressed), and at 150,000 articles, even 151 more would hardly make a difference (Wikipedia gets more new articles than that on each single day, anyway [http://www.wikipedia.org/wikistats/EN/TablesArticlesNewPerDay.htm]). Still, regarding the question whether everyone Pokémon *should* have an article - I'd personally say that all those should get one where somebody is willing to write one. <tt>:)</tt> As such, I'm definitely against deletion. -- [[User:Schneelocke|Schnee]] 02:30, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)

A more encyclopedic approach might be to have something like [[Environmentalism and US Presidents]] and give a history of support and opposition to the environmentalist movement among US presidents. --[[User:Delirium|Delirium]] 19:29, Aug 20, 2003 (UTC)
**It might have a place under [[George W. Bush]], but shunting it off into its own article -and- titling it "critique" serves only to highlight a particular POV - i.e. that George W. Bush has a bad environmental record. Merged, maybe, but this article cannot remain in its current form. [[User:Graft|Graft]] 19:44, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** IMO the title alone is highly pov, I think the article may be valid, but it can't be just one side . It should either be re written, or merged into something like G Bush's adminstration environmental record ( good and bad) otherwise it should be deleted.[[User:Smith03|Smith03]] 20:30, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**This article originated as a section of [[George W. Bush]] did it not? Beware of the common tactic of arguing that something is "too long" and justifying it going into its own article with an odd, long, name, and then come back later to censor it entirely. Integrate the material with GWB, or, as an alternative, adopt a style liked that of [[predicted effects of invading Iraq]]. Then you can deal with the actual disagreement, which is, that the [[Greens]] see Bush's regulatory cuts and refusal to sign [[Kyoto Protocol]], and so on, as leading to more [[pollution]], lower [[environmental health]], more [[cancer]], [[extinction]], while GWB and friends see it as [[economic growth]], cutting [[red tape]], and so on. Best way to handle two-sided zero-sum type debates. *[[Rules for mushroom hunting]] - Wikipedia is not guide to safely. If this article remains there must be a disclaimer at the top of this article. [[User:Mintguy|Mintguy]] 23:23, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** IMO, this article mostly consists of warnings anyway, doesn't it? I don't see it telling you 'Do this'. [[User:Morven|Morven]] 00:03, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** Seing as how most of the pages about edible mushrooms talk about how to identify and collect them (often with little respect for cautionary notes and similar species - I did my best to fix this in the past few days), I felt that it would be irresponsible to not put corresponding warnings. As an example, the Chanterelle page was talking about how there's no risk of misidentification and things of that sort - I'd like to see whoever wrote that after accidentally eating a Jack-O-Lantern mushroom. Seing as most professional mushroom hunters use a code of safety similar to the one I listed, it only seems responsible.
** As an alternative that I could throw out there, I could make it instead an encylcopedia page about mushroom hunting or mushroom hunters in general. It's quite a serious topic that's been neglected. [[User:Rei|Rei]] 19:21, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
*** An article on [[mushroom hunting]] would be good. It could include information about what people do, what experienced people recommend that people do, and what codes of safety are in fact used. However, I don't think articles should tell people what they should or should not do. It contradicts the spirit of the [[Wikipedia:Neutral point of view|Neutral point of view]] policy. -- [[User:Oliver Pereira|Oliver P.]] 01:22, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)
**There's too much good info in this article to just delete it. I agree that a general article on [[mushroom hunting]] would be best (and I certainly encourage Rei to work on it), but I'd rather have the current article than nothing at all. --[[User:Camembert|Camembert]] 01:31, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)
** I changed it to a general purpose enyclopedia page on mushroom hunting, and covered other aspects of [[mushroom hunting]]. I also changed it to make it more of a neutral point of view presentation. Is this good? I think its more well rounded. :) [[User:Rei|Rei]] 11:48, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Apologies, was not logged in.

I do not expect you to understand the importance a mutable archive of Mudgik would provide the Mudgik community. The remark is blunderous; importance is relative.

It is not a [[website]] it was a [[MUD]].

It exists today in two forms (I am still researching them).

For more MUDs that aren't 'that important' please see:

====[[Template:Top seeds for French Open 2004]]====
Is there going to be one of these for every Grand Slam in every year? By the end of the year, will there be four of these on the [[Serena Williams]] page with eighty names listed? At the end of five years, will there be twenty of them on her page? [[User:RickK|Rick]][[User talk:RickK|'''K''']] 04:03, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
